The vibrant output and ease of driving of the new purple LED SMD lamp makes it ideal for applications such as backlighting, mood- lighting, displays and status indication on items such as front panels and keypads, as well as signalling and industrial electronics. Designated LPRM3268X3, this new SMD lamp requires very low current, has a compact footprint of only 3.2mm by 2.8mm, and a depth of 1.9mm, with the industry- standard PLCC package.

European Sales Manager Frank Gehbauer made the journey to the UK especially for the occasion, joining PI UK staff and guests from related industries as the company showcased its enlarged premises, including the aptly named Newton, Baird and Hawking rooms. Visitors discovered PI’s exceptional engineering capabilities at first hand during a tour of the new customer demonstration facility, where a number of products were in action, among them a hexapod and a selection of stages, as well as high speed, precision laser scribing. In the 10 years since PI launched its UK subsidiary, the business has gone from strength to strength, developing trusting, open relationships with its customers and more than trebling the number of employees at its Cranfield base. Kevin Grimley, PI UK’s Managing Director, said: “The past decade has been extremely successful for PI UK, largely due to a philosophy of continuously investing in new technology, and our employees, who are fundamental to the success of every project. It achieves this with an innovative split contact design that consumes no extra PCB real estate. “The SIM8055 will further strengthen GCTs SIM connector range as it’s our first Nano SIM connector with this feature,” comments Paul Hulatt, GCT Product Manager. “Options remain limited in the market for Nano SIM connectors with card detect capabilities and GCT found a creative way to build this into the design without adding any bulk.” The new Nano SIM connector has a Push-Pull ejector type and is in ‘normally open’ switch configuration. With a space saving PCB footprint of 12.2mm length and 9.54mm width, optional locating pegs are also available making it a versatile connector for your designs.
