TEST & MEASUREMENT

identify unknown disturbances at unknown frequencies using today’s latest oscilloscopes, something unthinkable just a couple of product-generations ago.

Professor Arturo Mediano from the HF Magic Lab at the University of Zaragoza gave a practical demonstration of conducted emissions testing. Highlighting some classic problems when working with RF reference

designs, he showed how to minimise the effects of test equipment on experimental measurements.

A technical session gave practical insights into selecting pulsed and continuous- wave amplifiers, showing how to prioritise critical parameters such as spectral purity and ensure satisfactory performance with appropriate power consumption.

Real Networking Opportunities Since the pandemic, virtual platforms have surged and many have discovered the freedoms that remote working can bring. The return of Demystifying EMC, as a day-long physical event, presented and attended by experts in the subject, reinforces the value to be gained from being a part of the EMC community. There would be few opportunities to meet presenters like Professor Mediano, giving his first lecture the UK, or take time out in the mini exhibition to see new component innovations by invited partners that can help deal with troublesome noise sources. The exhibition also presented some of the latest test gear, as well as opportunities to network with accredited test houses and compliance experts to find out how to ensure that formal testing is done right first time. The frank views of the event’s closing panel underlined the advantages of being there and joining in; a unique opportunity to draw information from the dialogue between well-known industry experts, some of whom are also members of the CISPR sub- committees working on the next generations of specifications.
