he intrinsically safe ATEX- and IECEx-certified proximity switches from EGE's IGEXHa and IGEXPa
series are suitable for use at extreme temperatures. IGEXHa inductive sensors withstand ambient temperatures of up to +140 °C. IGEXPa "polar" models are suitable for down to -60 °C. Both series are approved for operation in zones 0/20. They feature IP69 ingress protection and are available in M12, M18, and M30 designs. Given a flush installation, the nominal switching distances are 2 mm, 5 mm, and 10 mm, depending on the design. The proximity switches are connected via a 2 m FEP cable. EGE supplies the sensors with different cable lengths on request. EGE also offers the IKMb 122 Ex series of suitable IECEx-certified signal processing units and intrinsically safe power supplies with programmable outputs. Internationally active machine builders benefit from the IECEx certification since it facilitates exporting products that integrate these proximity switches.

Sensata’s Slim 22.5mm Hybrid Motor Starters Extend Motor Life and Save Space

motion control applications, Sensata Technologies has launched the Crydom DRMS Series hybrid motor starters. These new hybrid starters integrate the benefits of both solid state and electromechanical relay technologies to produce a compact device that can control electrical power delivery to motors as large as 4kW. Suitable applications range from access control, packaging equipment, lifts and escalators to industrial process control and machine tooling systems. Unlike many motor starters of similar size, the DRMS Series offers features such as soft start, soft stop and an internal
mains disconnect relay in case of a fault. The starter’s soft start/soft stop function allows for the gradual increase or decrease of power control, thereby extending motor life.

Operating from a wide 90 to 264VAC input range with active PFC, models in the PSY330 series provide single fixed output voltages of 12V, 18V, 24V, 30V, 48V or 54V DC, providing up to 150W convection cooled, 180W conduction cooled through baseplate and 250W with fan cooling. With both conduction and forced air cooling, a PSY300 unit can give up to 300W output power. A 12V, 0.3A fan supply is a standard feature.
PSY300 units are efficient (up to 92%) and feature a no load power consumption figure of 0.15W without fan. The power supplies are protected against short circuit, over current, over voltage and over temperature.
The units have a high capacitive load capability, are suitable for Class I and Class II operation and feature an extra low leakage current figure of less than 100µA.
The PSY300 series meet all relevant EMI radiated and conducted standards and have a number of safety approvals pending. Powersolve can also supply models with any output voltages from 9V to 57VDC, still within the safety approvals, but these may be subject to minimum order quantities.
