Challenges in Mobile Machine Design
G
lobal commitment to limit the impact of climate change has spawned many initiatives across diverse industries. Countries, industries and corporations have adopted action plans to achieve Pernilla Bergmark, who was a Principal Researcher ICT Sustainability Impacts at Ericsson at the time, presented a paper titled “Halving global emissions by 2030 through exponential climate action and digital technologies,” at the Global Climate Action Summit in 2019, following on from the Paris Agreement of December 2015. The transition to sustainable energy sources for mobile machines stems from this global drive to Net Zero.
This article discusses the key themes of to the sustainability of the industry through reduced carbon emissions. Digitalisation enables OEMs to optimise their machine design and performance given the limitations of battery capacity compared to the energy content of diesel fuel.

Regulators around the world are setting more demanding heavy-duty emission standards in order to deliver global sustainability targets. EURO VI is currently the highest regulatory standard with many are the major source of harmful emissions,
“
VA mobile valves are the next generation valve series with lower pressure losses than traditional load sense valves thus saving energy.
Vegetable Oil (HVO100) can be blended with diesel to reduce emissions without modifying the machine in any way. On the other hand, Li-ion batteries enable a complete transition from fossil fuels with almost zero emissions. However, Li-ion machine and require regular recharging. Hydrogen-powered fuel cells offer the energy density than Li-ion batteries. Hydrogen fuel cells provide a more compact solution than Li-ion batteries for powering larger machines, but there are challenges to storing and distributing large volumes of hydrogen.
causing OEMs to explore other fuel sources to maintain compliance with the rising emission standards. Some alternatives others require a complete redesign. Diesel replacements like Hydrotreated

energy alternatives. The GVI range of global vehicle inverters and the GVM range of global vehicle motors are central to these solutions:
GVI mobile inverters have an operating range of 200V to 800V with three models providing amp ratings of 360A, 180A and 108A, respectively. As a critical component
