MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC PARTNERS WITH MODULEWORKS
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has agreed to strategically partner with, and invest in, ModuleWorks, a leading software component provider for the digital manufacturing industry. By strengthening its software development, including machine-tool simulation and data integration with CAD/CAM, the company aims to realise easier and safer operation of machine tools, reduce engineering workloads, and optimise engineering chains. Ultimately, this is expected to contribute to the growth of Mitsubishi Electric’s Circular Digital- Engineering business, including the expanded use of digital twins and other advanced technologies in the machine tool field and the realisation of increasingly smart production sites. “We are delighted to sign this strategic partnership agreement with Mitsubishi Electric,” said Dr. Yavuz Murtezaoglu, founder and managing director of ModuleWorks. “Working in close partnership accelerates technological development and drives digital transformation in manufacturing. We look forward to exciting new developments in our technologies.”

EVTOL TAXIS BY 2026? TECHSiL POSITIONED TO HELP TURN SCIENCE FICTION INTO REALITY
The UK government launched the ‘The Future of Flight Action Plan’, a roadmap for drones and novel electric aircraft in the UK that promised eVTOL taxis by 2026. With Paris Olympics showcasing ‘flying taxis’, TECHSiL expects the UK to quickly follow suit, as with zero
emissions an incoming government will showcase their green credentials. Vertiports are sites used for the arrival and departure of eVTOL
aircraft and with hundreds of airfields dotted across the UK, a network to connect communities by air will be possible very soon. TECHSiL in partnership with Momentive are pioneering thermal management and sealing solutions for drone and electric vertical take- off and landing aircraft. Engineers are concerned about protecting sensitive and vital electronics, battery modules, on-board chargers, generators using encapsulation, lightweight foams, weather proof sealing of housings and optical bonding in control panels. TECHSiL are well placed to support this growing and innovative area with their deep technical knowledge built from many years supporting the automotive and aerospace markets with technical solutions already tried and tested in the EV & AV automotive sphere.

AWI INSTALLS £200,000 OF NEW EQUIPMENT
Alloy Wire International (AWI) is passionate about the ‘Made in the UK’ brand, exporting its 60-strong range of exotic alloys to 65 countries. Now, over £200,000 of new equipment has been installed at the company – which manufactures round, flat and profile wire – and is set to deliver more than £2m of additional capacity. Two single hole blocks, 3-hole dry drawing machine and 4-spindle
spooler are now fully operational at the company’s state-of-the-art factory in the West Midlands. This will give the business the ability to reduce lead times even further, whilst also allowing it to offer clients in the automotive, aerospace, defence, oil and gas and medical sectors access to larger volume quantities. The company will also upgrade its tensile testing machinery, which will help it speed up the pre-job trial process and broaden the range of support offered to customers throughout the full duration of projects. Andrew Du Plessis, technical director of Alloy Wire International,
commented: “The decision was made last year to embark on a £500,000 investment drive and these latest installations are an important part of this strategy. Each one has been tailored to suit our specific production requirements, and to have them operating on the shop floor is great to see.”

Schneider Electric has announced the opening of its smart factory in Dunavecse, Hungary. The new plant will increase production capacity for engineering-to-order (ETO) solutions made according to customers’ specifications across Europe. This latest investment in capacity helps meet the increased demand
for electrification and digitalisation solutions across Europe. This demand is driven by the energy transition as electricity distribution utilities seek solutions that provide greater resilience and flexibility across their networks; and the data centre and cloud and service provider segments boom driven by digitisation and the upsurge of emerging technologies. “Europe is accelerating through the energy transition and strengthening
its energy independence,” said Yann Reynaud, senior vice president, Global Engineering to Order Operations. “Dunavecse is our new flagship factory in Europe for smart medium and low voltage SF6 free technologies to support the increasing demand across the region, bringing even more innovation, sustainability, and digital solutions to customers.”
