we’ve been faced with even more obstacles – component and product shortages, crippling inflation, and enormous rises in energy bills that are not only pushing families to the limit but forcing companies to consider whether they can continue trading for much longer. And then the recent sudden and very sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II has heightened emotions even further. However, one industry that is booming at the


moment is the pet food market. Covid lockdowns resulted in a huge growth in pet ownership, with the knock-on effect being that pet food sales in Europe increased to a massive 8.5 million tonnes. According to Fortress Technology, however, today’s owners want to feed their animals with food that is safe, nutritious and fit for human consumption, and this is therefore resulting in the need for machinery and production lines that are designed and built to manufacture pet foods that are healthy and without contaminants (see page 26). This is something, I’m sure, that our former Queen with her love for animals, would have approved of.
