Smiths Connectors Launches its COTS Plus 2mm Aurora Connector Series

This innovative connector range


delivers a broad set of features and benefits to customers by addressing their high-reliability connectivity needs. Most notably,

The new ranges features standard M12, M18 and M30 housings with sensing ranges of 10mm, 15mm and 30mm respectively, regardless of the metal being detected. There simply is no reduction factor.

Beyond that the environmental credentials of the new range are superb, with an operating


temperature range between -40°C and +85°C and every ingress protection from IP65 to IP69K, not to mention that these units are immune to strong electrical fields, so some are suitably coated to resist weld spatter.

“stunningly good” show according to new business development manager Stuart Packer. “We have very strong leads to follow up on in battery cooling, server cooling, inverter cooling and hydraulic cooling. There were visitors to our stand asking for temperature control solutions in medical, laser, digital screen marketing, transport, plastic injection moulding and domestic applications.” Also on stand with Stuart Packer


was Denis Roessel, technical sales manager of termotek which is a subsidiary of technotrans and an expert company in bespoke cooling for industrial applications.


This year technotrans also acquired a 98% stake in gwk (Gesellschaft Wärme Käletechnik. This euro 45m turnover business employs 380 staff and has customers in the plastics processing industry, plastic machine manufacturers, plant engineering companies and also companies from the automotive, packaging, chemical and food industries.

This Engineering Design Show it has started talks with designers in a raft of new sectors. “This is a great show, bringing together product designers and manufacturers interested in finding new or better ways of developing and producing their products. The show was busy and buzzy and one bonus was that we received orders this week for a project which originated from the EDS in 2015. We have already signed up for next year,” says Mr Packer.

The measurement results of most common sensors provide just one value – not so with the new weFlux² generation which measures flow velocity and temperature simultaneously with a single sensor, regardless of the medium’s direction of flow. And installation in any desired position assures greatest possible flexibility with regard to system layout. The maintenance-free, non-wearing sensors offer tremendous pressure resistance with values of up to 100 bar. In order to be able to deliver precise measurement results in hygienically sensitive environments at temperatures ranging from -25 to +80° C, the FDA-compliant housing made of 316L stainless steel is not equipped with a display.
