hen it was established in 1964 in Redditch, Worcestershire, by Barry Woodward and partners, MSP was a
manufacturer of garter springs used in seals. Its success, however, resulted in the
company being purchased by Nevis Capital in 2008, before finally being acquired by Swedish conglomerate Indutrade AB in 2014. Today, the company manufactures a wide range of springs, in a variety of materials, for a diverse array of applications. With a long list of blue chip customers, MSP’s
proven experience and capabilities have enabled it to partner with companies to assist in projects from prototype and development through to volume production. In fact its years in business mean the company has the experience and knowledge to offer flexible and innovative supply solutions that can add real value to supply chains.

The organisation is now a specialist manufacturer of a wide variety of springs and stampings in a vast range of exotic materials –

aerospace industry for over 50 years, with half of its business being supplied to the industry. Using its state-of-the-art ERP system, the company manufactures aerospace components such as springs, stampings and assemblies for many safety-critical civil and defence aerospace applications, including actuator systems, safety-critical components, ejector seats, landing gear, engines, and fuel lines and caps. However, alongside its work with the aerospace
sector, MSP is one of the leading suppliers of custom springs and stampings for the defence supply industry. Here, springs, stampings and complicated assemblies are thoroughly inspected before being shipped to some of the most demanding and hostile situations on the planet, where key components might mean the difference between life and death. MSP also has a dedicated nuclear team, with
a wealth of experience in this sector, capable of manufacturing quality subsea components for both the nuclear and marine sectors.
ManufacturInG In-house
Still based in Redditch, MSP has a 40,000 sq ft facility that houses a broad range of manufacturing options – from CNC and mandrel coiling, and single blow to CNC presses, EDM, machining centres, laser welding, etc, as well as NADCAP heat treatment and tensile testing special processes. This equipment means that the company is able to retain the vast majority of manufacturing cycles in-house.
