PRODUCTS ENCLOSURES ROBUST ENCLOSURE NOW IN CABINET FORM

MULTIPURPOSE ABS ENCLOSURES

Available in eight models, the MB series from BCL Enclosures is a multipurpose ABS enclosure series with lids designed to be flexible and customisable to suit multiple applications. All except one model in the range

have internal PCB slots (ribs) to retain printed circuit boards securely; and the lids are securely held with M3.5 countersunk screws in brass inserts for a neat finish. The enclosures can easily be punched or drilled to suit the application. The MB1 measures 79mm x 61mm

with a height of 40mm; MB2 measures 100mm x 76mm x 41mm; MB3 is 118mm x 98mm x 45mm. These have a nominal wall thickness of 1.5mm. MB4 measures 216mm x 130mm x

85mm, with a nominal wall thickness of 4.0mm; MB5 is 150mm x 100mm x 60mm with a nominal wall thickness of 2.5mm. All these models feature slots for retaining multiple PCBs. The MB6 is 220mm x 150mm x 64mm, with a nominal wall thickness of 3mm, with no internal ribs. The two remaining models are the MB7 at 177mm x 120mm x 83mm and MB8 at 150mm x 80mm x 50mm. These two have nominal wall thickness of 2.5mm. The enclosures are available in black,

white or light grey as standard, with RAL colours on request; and all except MB4, MB6 and MB7 have a polished finish.

Designed to protect electrical switchgear in outdoor and industrial environments, Spelsberg’s GEOS polycarbonate enclosure is now available in cabinet form. Rated to IP66 or 67 and with IK09 impact resistance, the robust GEOS-S is UV-resistant, corrosion- resistant and weatherproof, and has Drain Protect channels which move moisture away from the access point, improving ingress protection. The cabinet also provides electrical safety and meets protection class II requirements with no further earthing required. High clearance and creepage for up to 1,000V AC and 1,500V DC is also assured. There are a range of door and closure options to provide fast access and improved security. An

intermediate frame creates stable guiding for door closure, supported by a standard three-bit locking system. Quarter-turn and swinghandle locking systems are also available as options. The intermediate frame enables easy door assembly, and the door can quickly be removed should component change or addition be required. Hinge mounting can also be rapidly transferred for right- or left-hand opening. The doors, which are available in transparent or grey, can also be opened through 180˚ to enable extended access. The GEOS-S cabinet’s intermediate frame can also be used as a platform for customisation and individual

accessories. Mounting plates, front panels and additional interior doors can be attached and the frame also allows for various configurations of DIN rail or base mounting. The intermediate frame also enables separation of electrical components and their operation with protection against contact, as well as mounting of application- optimised accessories. Accessories include a door stay, pre-assembled interior LED lighting, and cable clips. Front panels can also be mounted to the GEOS-S cabinet to provide additional security and to enable

simple separation and control of mixed applications within a shared cabinet enclosure. Flexible mounting of GEOS-S includes interchangeability with the standard GEOS-L enclosures and the

cabinets can be applied in landscape or portrait orientations. With accreditations including IEC 62208, IEC 61439, UL 50 and CSA 22.2, GEOS-S is available in three basic sizes from 300 x 300 x 180mm to 500 x 400 x 226mm, with 180mm or 226mm base height.

Spelsberg COMPRESSION LATCHES

Compression latches from EMKA are designed to enhance sealing and enclosure performance parameters such as security of door closure, greater envelope rigidity, and more even gasket pull-down. These are available in materials include zinc-die, stainless steel and polyamide in ‘quarter-turn’ style 90˚+90˚ operation, as well as swinghandle designs. The compression latches are available ex-stock for external

installations such as railways, street furniture, oil and gas facilities, and specialist vehicles. They are also increasingly in demand for ordinary commercial/industrial situations where performance is essential, such as in areas subject to wash- down or where a lock-and-forget operation is needed.

ERGONOMIC IP54 HAND-HELD CASES

Hammond Electronics’ 1552 family of hand-held IP54 rated UL94-V0 flame-retardant ABS enclosures are initially available in six sizes. With an ergonomic design, these can be used for applications such as machine controllers or electric hoist controls. These have end panels that are

removable for easy modification and, for use with flying cables, an alternative end panel with an integral rubberised cord protector and a strain relief bracket is available from the company. The 1552 can also be used as a desktop

WEATHERPROOF ENCLOSURE FOR VSDS

ABB has introduced a weatherproof enclosure that allows standard, wall-mounted, ABB variable speed drives (VSDs) to operate in outdoor areas while remaining protected from weather conditions. IP65 or IP66 drives are often specified for outdoor VSD installations, but the weatherproof enclosure means IP55 drives are adequately protected outdoors. The weatherproof solution can be used with the ABB range of

general purpose drives, HVAC drives and water industry drives. A range of frame sizes is available to cover VSD variants and power ratings; and the backplate is fixed to a wall using the same fixing holes as the drive itself. The cover can be removed quickly to carry out drive maintenance.

enclosure and an optional wall mounted holder allows the unit to be stored in a convenient location when not in use. All the launch sizes are 50mm wide and either 22 or 30mm high, with both heights available in lengths of 70, 110 and 150mm. A recess for a membrane keyboard or a display is moulded in the top face and PCB standoffs are moulded in the base section.
