Inta Hydra: Integrating ASHPs with Existing Boilers
H
ybrid tech combines heat pumps with combi boilers to accelerate air source heat
pump adoption Inta, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of heating and plumbing products, revealed its first hybrid heat pump system, Inta Hydra, last autumn. This hybrid solution offers homeowners an affordable and straightforward transition to renewable energy by seamlessly integrating an air source heat pump (ASHP) with an existing combi boiler. The Inta Hydra prioritises the
ASHP as the primary heat source, switching to the combi boiler only when necessary, ensuring year- round efficiency. This hybrid system maximises renewable energy use, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and maintains optimal comfort without requiring extensive modifications. Its efficient control logic and four pre-programmed Coefficient of Performance (COP) profiles enable tailored efficiency based on specific heating needs and conditions. Hydra is especially suitable for older properties or homes that may not benefit fully from ASHPs throughout
the year. Neil Stead, National Specification Manager at Inta, commented, “The Inta Hydra is a game-changer in
hybrid heating. By combining ASHP technology with existing gas combi boilers, the Hydra makes renewable energy practical and cost-effective for homeowners. It also helps support the UK’s decarbonisation goals by accelerating the rollout of ASHP technology.” The Inta Hydra supports the specification of lower output ASHPs, further reducing costs. It eliminates the
need for a hot water storage cylinder, as the combi boiler provides all hot water requirements, contributing to significant cost savings. The Inta Hydra comes with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty for peace of mind and is the latest heat
pump innovation from Inta, which has made a significant impact on the market with its range of ASHP peripheral products. Find out more about Inta Hydra and Inta’s range of heat pump products on our website.

FUJITSU LAUNCHES NEW ‘SOFT BLACK’ WALL MOUNT
F
ujitsu General Air Conditioning UK has added a new ‘soft-black’ version to
its AIRSTAGE wall mount range that can be connected to split and multi-split systems. Operating on lower GWP
R32 refrigerant and available in capacities from 2 to 4.2kW, the new unit (model ASEH**KMCG-B) has a compact chassis depth of just 220mm, thanks to the design of its high-density multipath heat exchanger. Built-in Wi-Fi capability makes
it controllable via the AIRSTAGE Mobile app, with service and maintenance improved due to refrigerant cycle data being displayed on a compatible wired controller. Cooling is available between
-10°C and 50°C, with heating from -15°C. The large louvre design enables the unit to achieve a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of up to 8.4 in heating mode and a Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) of 4.6 for cooling. The large cross-flow fan aids efficiency and ensures effective airflow, which is achieved with quiet operating
levels as low as 20dB(A) in cooling. A 20m pipe length and 10m elevation is possible on all models, which are pre-charged for 15m of pipework.
This removes the potential additional installation cost of refrigerant charges on site. The unit contains an ion deodorising filter and an apple catechin filter, which breaks down odours and uses
static electricity to capture fine dust particles. Martyn Ives, Commercial Director at Fujitsu, said: “The soft-black unit certainly attracted a lot of attention
on the stand at InstallerSHOW. The matt texture of the fascia means that it doesn’t reflect ceiling lights as the mirror-style units do and it fits in with what customers are demanding in terms of interior design.” To discover more about the Fujitsu product range, visit
