New Pattress Mount Kit added to Elucian consumer unit range

S

colmore continues to expand its Elucian by Click consumer unit range to provide electricians with products that offer them convenience and easy installation solutions. The latest addition is a new rear and side wiring consumer unit pattress mount kit.

With the pattress mount secured to the wall and attached to the back of the consumer unit, the electrician has space between the mount and the unit to neatly feed cabling from the trunking through the rear knockouts. Because the mounting kit comprises two separate parts - a left and right mount – it can be used across any size of distribution board and is therefore compatible with the full Elucian consumer unit range - 5, 8,10,12,14,16 and 22 Way. For the contractor, this means carrying just one type of kit on the van regardless of the size of consumer units being installed, and for the wholesaler it means minimum space taken up in store, with just one size of kit needing to be stocked. A template is supplied with each kit to allow the installer to easily work out the correct positioning of

the mounts for the particular size of board they are installing – from 5 Way to 22 Way. Once the mount positions have been marked on the wall, the pattress mounts are fixed using screws and plugs and the consumer unit positioned on the pattress mount. The consumer unit is fixed to the pattress mount using the screws and washer provided. The serrated washers must be used to ensure earth continuity. The new pattress mount kits form part of Elucian’s extensive accessories range. The full Elucian by Click range can be seen on the website.

Strebel Launches R290 Range of Commercial Air Source Heat Pumps

S

trebel has launched the S-ASX-NT range

of commercially sized reversible air source heat pumps. The NT classification of the product refers to the Natural Refrigerant, R290, which is used in the compression cycle of the units. This refrigerant has excellent thermal efficiency properties, resulting in a SCOP of over 4 at 35oC and over 3 at 65oC as well as a future proof GWP of 3. Available in four

sizes from 60kW to 90kW heat can be delivered at the outlet up to 72oC for space heating or domestic hot water production. As a member of the S-ASX range, which also includes other HFC (R410A and R454B) refrigerant based machines, the NT also enjoys an in-built soft start compressors, low noise set-up and a modulating circulating pump as well as the benefits of a bespoke commercially orientated design team. Additionally there are also four larger models with an inverter compressor designated as the S-ASX-

NTi with the largest model output up to 190kW. Details of all the S-ASX ranges are available in the Strebel ASHP Selector Guide at https://strebel. co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/230127_ashp_selector_guide_v5-1.pdf

Sound Level Meter to Protect Workers from Noise-induced Hearing Loss

G

lobal occupational hygiene and workplace hazard monitoring expert, Casella, has launched its enhanced 620 sound level meter to help

protect more workers from noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). The new device offers significant upgrades over its predecessor, providing users with a greater understanding of noise in the workplace and easier, faster ways to record measurement data. Over 170,000 people in the UK suffer from NIHL, tinnitus or other acoustic trauma conditions as a direct result of excessive exposure at work. Eliminating noise at the source is always the first step to reduce the risk of NIHL and this can be achieved by using a sound level meter to measure noise, obtain concrete data and highlight key areas for change. Casella’s latest enhanced 620 sound level meter features time history profiling, enabling operators to see how noise has varied over a set period ranging from one second to 30 minutes. This provides a greater understanding of a workplace’s noise climate and the tasks that need to be controlled to manage workplace noise. The time history can be further analysed when downloaded, to perform ‘what if’ calculations on the effect of noise exposure when certain activities or noisy events are removed, ensuring more workers can receive optimal protection. The enhanced 620 sound level meter also offers voice notes, allowing recordings to be taken at the

start of a measurement run, saving time and effort taking manual notes. The voice notes can be played back once the data has been downloaded to a PC so that the information can be easily referenced. The marketing-leading feature allows for up to 33 hours of audio storage, and the device can store nearly 1,000 measurements up to 24 hours each, even with one second profiles, giving operators confidence that there will be sufficient memory without having to delete results on the go. “We’re thrilled to be launching the enhanced 620 sound level meter, which represents a significant

step forward in our commitment to providing industry-leading noise measurement solutions,” said Tim Turney, Global Marketing Manager at Casella. “The number of workers affected by NIHL is alarming and employers have a crucial responsibility to protect workers’ health from being damaged. With the right measures in place, more workers can avoid preventable but irreversible damage to their hearing and ensure they continue to perform their best.”
