EDITOR’S COMMENT & CONTENTS The key to change is in our hands

Through history, humankind has come up against some strange and frightening obstacles. Every time this has happened, we’ve done one thing to survive: evolve. Often that isn't a drastic change, as natural evolution teaches us just a few small changes in the grand scheme can make a huge difference and benefit our existence.

Our industry is one that has grown out of such evolution, with the insights and ingenuity that each new perspective brings. It isn't about finding the best solution amid a problematic situation it’s about opening eyes to new ways of doing things and changing stale habits.

So far, this current situation has taught us a few things about our society: The majority of modern workers can work from home which means the growing traffic and carbon emission problem was just a habit; A public focus on health and the welfare of the more vulnerable members of society was lost but has now been resurrected along with a huge appreciation for the

work done by those who are part of the NHS and other vital services; Through isolation we come to realise just how important those connections with other people are, perhaps we will see communities reconnecting in celebration once the danger has passed. While remaining safe and vigilant, I hope there are some out there who find it just as exciting as I do to wonder what parts of our outdated day-to- day operations could get a make-over to improve the world we live in for the societies of the future.
