eading independent air movement specialist Gilberts is delivering a knockout punch in delivery of customer needs.
As part of its continued commitment to
optimising its manufacturing resources to deliver the best balance of quality and value, the company has invested in advanced metal processing technology, with the installation of a new combination CNC laser punch press. “The new machine merges two technologies
combining the speed of a laser cutter with the punching capability of a punch press, which means we can give our customers even better quality and accuracy of components, and reduced lead times, even on ‘specials’,” explained Gilberts’ Blackpool operations director Chris Clarke.
Gilberts’ “knockout” customer care The new machine can process
aluminium, steel and stainless steel sheet up to 2.5m x 1.25m and 8mm thick with extreme precision, optimum edge smoothness and surface finish. Some forming capabilities are also
available which can reduce the number of subsequent operations Adds Chris Clarke, “Not only does
this machine give us extra capacity but many of our products are made up of large sheet metal parts with a large number of holes, slots and small forms. lead times and cost as we no longer have to develop and produce special order tools.”

LG introduces new Round Cassette for Multi V VRF systems
L
G continues to introduce new and efficient product additions to its range of air conditioning equipment. Its latest
introduction is its new round cassette, particularly helpful in spaces with high or exposed ceilings. The LG round cassette offers benefits where the aesthetics of the installation are important such as in cafes, restaurants, highend retail stores and hotels with trendy interiors. The LG Round Cassette is the winner of a
2019 Red Dot Design Award. The judges for the award said: “The design of this air conditioning system has placed special emphasis on projecting an elegant design and easy installation. Its flat, round body and diamondshaped openings turn the device into a spatial object with a strong character that sets accents in modern living environments. Tubes and pipes are integrated into a single installation cover, which greatly simplifies the installation of the air conditioning system on the ceiling.” As the award statement suggests bundling
the drainpipe and the refrigerant pipe together in one place reduces installation time. Also the control box for this new
cassette allows for the power supply cables to be fitted from the side of the unit. Unnecessary complications in installation are very much a thing of the past. By reducing the depth of the product –
the three sizes available are all just 330mm deep – this new cassette maximises on the openness of the available space once it has been installed. Hangar covers also provide a more refined aesthetic to installations. This new unit offers powerful and quiet air flow. Its 3D fan increases airflow by 5% over traditional 4way cassettes, and noise reduction technology makes for a quieter more comfortable space – with sound levels of 39 dB(a) and is supplied with a deodorising filter as standard. These new cassettes connect to the
entire LG Multi V outdoor product range and are available in the UK now. For more information see your normal distributor or to find out more about LG’s exciting range of heating and air conditioning equipment, visit the website, or you can email LG at

maintenance in a variety of applications. For Panasonic systems, Aquarea Cascade Control is a highly integrated interface which allows for establishments such as supermarkets, hospitals, care homes and hotels to control up to ten Aquarea Air Source Heat Pumps to deliver and remotely manage the demands for energyefficient heating and cooling across their organisations. Panasonic’s Aquarea Cascade Control (PAWA2W

CMH) has a large, easy to use touch screen display and provides control for up to 10 Aquarea airto water heat pumps, connected at any one time, to run simultaneously or in cascade mode and creating a system with capacity up to 160kW. The Aquarea Cascade Controller can also connect to solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and 3 way valves for cooling, ideally suited for commercial and hospitality applications with additional means of energy sourcing which require specific solutions or programmes, yet can all be managed using one device.

With its own built in MODBUS IP, the Aquarea Cascade
Controller integrates with the building’s BMS communication and can have up to 3 MBUS devices connected for a smarter way to manage heating, cooling, and domestic hot water (DHW). Logging, analysing, optimising and controlling energy, as well as processing data, can all be accessed via the single control interface. Remote access for offsite management at any time of the day could not be easier, helping to prevent any disruption to the building’s inhabitants and allowing business to continue as usual by connecting the control to BMS. For many projects: energy, cost, and time efficiency is
key to creating a more sustainable building and reducing heating and cooling costs. Cascade Control is being increasingly utilised across many sectors to make use of parallelconnected heat pumps and the benefit of remote access for management and maintenance resulting in multiple savings. An example is a recent project in the UK – a healthcare facility where six highly efficient Panasonic Aquarea H Series TCap 16kW Air to Water heat pumps, along with a Panasonic Cascade Controller, have been installed to provide underfloor heating to 2022m2 of floor space within the building. This brand new €10m modern facility houses 15 inpatient rooms with ensuite facilities for those with life limiting conditions, several treatment rooms for outpatient clinics and multidisciplinary specialist services. The Care Home is benefitting from the Aquarea Cascade Control which modulates the air source heat pumps to meet demand and further save on energy usage.
