Signal conditioning
flexibility and ease of installation of a wireless system results in lower maintenance costs with reliable data collection over many years and can save time and cost compared to similar wired systems. The other added advantage of system is re-use, as systems can be redeployed relatively easily. The X24 Sensor System is also available for measurement in ATEX/IECEx for zones 1 and 2. Mantracourt’s modular T24 series, which
features in the infographic, includes an ecosystem of sensor transmitters, base stations, robust handheld displays, serial output modules, relays and analogue outputs. The newly launched SensorSpace gateway can be easily added onto a T24 system to provide the same wireless data to a cloud based platform which can be fully customised to suit the needs of the project and accessed via desktop or mobile device.

Two main things to look out for; obstructions and interference from other radio signals. Both will affect the range of transmission. Too much radio can also inhibit transmission. Check whether you can receive data in various places on the site using a handheld connected to the transmitter. Using the spectrum analyser in Mantracourt’s toolkit you can check the amount of radio traffic where the connected base station is. It is important to remember that the ground can absorb a large portion of the signal so both transmitter and receiver should be above ground. Check the radio traffic where the transmitters and receivers are located.

The internal batteries of wireless sensors can last years as low power modes and activation of measurements and transmit data can be set only when needed. When faster transmission rates are necessary and no permanent power supply is available, manufacturers can use a solar panel or energy harvesting system such as Mantracourt’s Power Pack and Solar Panel. For sensors that operate in
particularly harsh environments, Mantracourt’s wireless transmitter modules can be ordered in one of three IP rated enclosures to prevent damage from water or aggressive chemicals.
operated LVDTs by providing the excitation and digital output required by many of today’s laboratory, industrial automation, and process control applications. Without internal electronics, AC-LVDTs can operate in extreme environments but require the NTC-6000 Signal Conditioner to convert position feedback into readable output for use by computers, PLCs, data acquisition systems, and data loggers. Compatible with both new and legacy
T
AC-LVDTs, RVDT, or LVRT half-bridge sensors, the NTC-6000 Signal Conditioner offers a variety of selectable excitation frequencies, analog output types (0-10V, 0-5V, 0.5 – 4.5V, +5V, +10V, 4-20mA) as well as digital communications to a host computer via RS-485 output. The RS-485 port also supports the hot swapability of sensors by saving set-up parameters and automatic excitation synchronisation for multiple unit systems. Offering an intuitive AC-LVDT setup
process for easy calibration, this user- friendly signal conditioner features front panel null indicators and pushbuttons to set zero and full-scale output positions along with automatic excitation synchronisation for multiple unit systems. These smart signal conditioners also self- diagnose for LVDT failure, disconnects, or short circuits. In addition, the advanced NTC-6000 Signal Conditioner offers cybersecurity lockout and tamper detection to protect against hacks.

Collect your data in a usable format. Local display and logging can also be coupled with cloud-based remote monitoring platforms such as SensorSpace, where data can be analysed in real-time, allowing you to quickly identify trends and act when needed. Or data can be stored for later analysis. SensorSpace can be used to remotely monitor the live feed from Mantracourt’s T24 wireless telemetry system 24/7, facilitating on-going customer support.
