Essentially a large pressure cooker, autoclaves reach a temperature of 121.1°C by using pressurised steam at ~1.05 bar. 121.1°C, ensuring some bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores do not survive. Autoclaves are essential for use by hospitals, dental surgeries and tattoo parlours, for example, for sterilising tools used for invasive procedures or for sterilising in laboratories after use of material and waste.
And since steam sterilisation efficacy is highly dependent on the actual temperature, accurate, repeatable validation is critical.
Signatrol’s SL60-ACC03 protective enclosure means that its SL63T temperature data logger can accurately track the temperature of the autoclave and provide a quick response – 99 seconds in steam - giving reassurance to the user that the instruments have been sterilised at the correct temperature. The unit is operated, and the data are inspected using the Signatrol’s TempIT software platform, which is free to download. And for added piece of mind, the data are encrypted and not alterable ‘by ordinary means’.

PROTECTIVE ENCLOSURE FOR ACCURATE AUTOCLAVE TEMPERATURE TESTING

ignatrol, the temperature and humidity data logging experts has launched a new and improved small stainless steel protective enclosure for data loggers used to measure the temperature and provide validation of autoclaves used for sterilising surgical and laboratory instruments. The SL60-ACC03 protective enclosure enables Signatrol’s dLOG SL63T low-cost multiple use miniature data loggers to be used to measure temperature in harsh environments such as autoclaves, where unprotected data loggers might not survive.
