WHAT SETS SENSEAR HEADSETS APART? S

ENS® takes noise cancellation to a whole new level. By

headsets have set the standard for suppressing unwanted ambient noise using a technology called Active Noise Control (ANC). Most people associate Noise Cancelling headsets with those used by consumers on airplanes or other noisy environments to reduce the ambient noise so they can listen to music or sleep quietly. Active Noise Control technology has been adopted by a number of hearing protection

products BUT there is an inherent flaw in its application in high noise environments where hearing protection is required. Active Noise Control may reduce noise but it reduces the user’s ability to hear speech and remain aware of their surroundings.

NEED TO KEEP TRACK? THERE’S A CYNERGY3 SENSOR FOR THAT!

W

ireless battery powered pressure sensor and receiver system for connecting up

to 5 pressure sensors without wires to a central wireless receiver which converts each received pressure signal channel to a 1-5Vdc or 4-20mA output. The IWPT wireless pressure sensor and

receiver is a cost effective replacement to a traditionally wired pressure sensors that offers the advantages of a low-cost installation in inaccessible and expensive installation environments. The key benefit of wireless is avoiding

long, tortuous or expensive cable runs over larger areas. The battery powered wireless pressure sensors can have a range of up to 750m, easily paired to the compatible IWR family of single or five-channel wireless receivers for multi-measurement systems. Setting up is quick and easy, with free configuration software available for more

complex systems.

NEW ULTRASONIC SENSORS LAUNCHED FROM SENSOR CENTRE

T

his brand new miniature ultrasonic sensor by MD Micro Detectors has a

rectangular housing with an M18 front face & M3 side fixings. There are sensing ranges up to 1200mm with adjustment made using the teach-in button. The sensors are available with PNP or NPN switching & all models except those with IO-Link have analogue 0 to 10V or 4 to 20mA output as standard. The UQ1 can also be used to replace most miniature photoelectric sensors. With IP67 protection & a working temperature range of -20 ° C to + 70 ° C the QU1 is ideal for detection & measurement in harsh & dirty environments. Typical applications for the UQ1 models would be level detection & the detection of targets regardless of their colour, transparency or brightness (features that would compromise correct functioning of a photocell), from blister pack detection in pharmaceutical systems to detecting packaging in the food industry. This “without limits” technology allows the user to always obtain optimal and precise results.

PROTECT EMPLOYEES FROM CHEMICAL EXPOSURE WITH CASELLA’S NEW VAPEX PUMP

Casella, air sampling, noise and vibration specialist, has launched its advanced and lightweight low flow pump, the VAPex Pro.

C

The elite low flow pump is the ideal solution for seamless reporting on employee’s levels of chemical exposure, saving occupational hygienists’ crucial time in their working day.

In 2018, the United Nations stressed the importance of improving the prevention of chemical exposures at work, with The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimating that one worker dies every 30 seconds from exposure to toxic chemicals, pesticides, radiation and other hazardous substances.[1]

The VAPex, with a flow rate of 20mL to 500mL/min, is intrinsically safe and assists occupational hygienists in the measurement of chemical exposure levels such as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

UNDERSTANDING THE BENEFITS OF UKAS ACCREDITED CALIBRATION SERVICES T

here may be a single reason for selecting a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory for your instrument calibration but remember there are many, often hidden benefits

of using an accredited laboratory that bring significant advantages to your business. Whether your reasoning is technical, legal or quality, the over-riding importance of obtaining correct, legally enforceable measurements is paramount in todays’ commercial environment. Bringing together, peace of mind, confidence that the laboratory operates to defined procedures, independently assessed, impartiality, traceability, International recognition via ILAC-MRA, integrity and assurance of quality; accreditation helps you as a company to establish and build commercial and public trust, provides effective due diligence in the event of any legal action and often provides reduced insurance premiums as brokers and underwriters recognise accreditation as an important factor in assessing risk.

Many companies fall into the sales trap of non-accredited laboratories, offering “UKAS traceable calibrations”, which nonsensical in fact and will not provide any of assurances furnished by an accredited laboratory. Many years ago there were financial pressures where UKAS accredited calibrations were only the realm for reference and master meter instruments, but with the highly competitive calibration market of today, UKAS accredited calibrations can be sourced at competitive or often reduced costs against non-accredited calibrations.

The Young Calibration, UKAS accredited laboratory offers fluid flow, gas flow, air velocity, pressure, electrical and temperature simulation accredited. Young Calibration Ltd
