BEKA INDICATORS INSTALLED IN POLYURETHANE MANUFACTURING PLANT
Positive Weighing Solutions recently installed BEKA BA304G field mounting loop powered indicators in a Midlands polyurethane manufacturing plant. The indicators, which have ATEX and IECEx intrinsic safety certification, display process temperatures and are working alongside Dini Argeo weighing monitors supplied by Positive Weighing Solutions. Positive Weighing
Solutions are a ten year old company specialising in industrial weighing and automation. Located in Malvern, they design, install and maintain industrial equipment throughout the UK and are a premium distributor of Dini Argeo weighing systems. Their specialist knowledge of protection techniques for flammable environments has resulted in much of their recent work being for hazardous area applications.

Fischer Connectors continues to push the boundaries of technological innovation in rugged miniaturisation, high-speed data transmission, sealing, and wearability. Fischer Connectors has
launched a breakthrough “plug & use” connectivity technology with its new product line: the Fischer Freedom Series and its first product: the Fischer LP360. The Fischer Freedom
Series revolutionises wearable connectivity, as it meets design engineers’ urgent needs for designing and connecting portable and body-worn applications quickly and easily, thanks to three breakthrough technology innovations: Mating – no key code allows for 360° mating “freedom”; Locking – ball-locking mechanism with sealing and variable pre-defined force (patent pending); and Materials – specially designed pins on the plug are IP68 sealed with a membrane (patent pending). Thanks to these innovations, the Fischer Freedom Series facilitates
integration, maximises usability and optimises cable management for a wide variety of applications within markets such as defence, security, medical, industrial and civil engineering – to name just a few.

NEW GENERATION OF HMI PANEL INTERFACE
B&R recently introduced the fourth generation of its display transmission technology, Smart Display Link (SDL). SDL4 is based on HDBaseT 2.0 and can span up to 100m between the industrial PC and display device. This makes it easy to equip expansive machines and systems with multiple remote HMI panels. SDL4 makes it possible to transmit display content and other data over
much greater distances. It is possible to span up to 100m between PC and display. An additional highlight of SDL4 is its use of standard Ethernet cables, which drastically reduces cable costs over longer distances. The thin cable and slim RJ45 connector are a perfect fit in tight situations such as feed- through openings and swing arm systems. An SDL4 converter allows up to three panels to be connected to one
automation PC. A fourth automation panel displaying different content can also be operated via an additional SDL4 interface. This is B&R’s response to the needs of modern manufacturing systems, which increasingly feature multiple locally-mounted operator panels. The modular design of B&R’s PC and panel systems allows any
automation panel to be equipped with an SDL4 interface. SDL4 transmission technology is independent of software and operating systems and integrates all communication channels – including USB, touch screen and function keys – in one single cable. SDL4 transmits all signals uncompressed and in high resolution for optimum image quality.

IMPROVED SPEED OF DEVICE CALIBRATION
Emerson has updated its AMS Device Manager asset management software to support the Beamex MC6 documenting calibrator, adding electronic workflows that eliminate up to 50 per cent of time spent on each calibration. AMS Device Manager’s Calibration Assistant SNAP-ON application
interfaces with the Beamex MC6 documenting calibrator to manage the calibrations of HART, Foundation Fieldbus, and conventional devices. Users can define, track, and test calibrations with a seamless interface between AMS Device Manager and the Beamex MC6. The entirely paperless system eliminates transcription mistakes and calculation errors for better accuracy and generates automated records to simplify and streamline compliance with regulatory requirements by FDA, OSHA, EPA and more. Users of the Beamex MC6 also gain access to improved calibration
features with AMS Device View, which brings AMS Device Manager to mobile devices through intuitive dashboards and focused alerts. AMS Device View calibration dashboards simplify compliance, displaying the status of devices in the calibration management program. Users can quickly and easily access schedules showing when devices are due - or overdue - for calibration.
