Starting with a concise analysis of the fluid and it’s properties Litre Meter's team of seasoned engineers select the best flowmeter technique. They then provide a detailed quotation and documentation to match. Litre Meter are manufacturers of Pelton wheel and rotary piston flowmeters. They also distribute positive displacement meters from KEM, gas meters from Sierra and Ritter, variable area meters from AW-Lake and Coriolis mass flowmeters from Tricor.

Litre Meter has particular expertise in engineering exact solutions where there are constraints of materials, flow rates, pressures or physical size.

NEW DAQ SYSTEM FROM HBM GROWS WITH YOUR NEEDS

N

ow available from HBM – a market leader in the field of test

and measurement – is the new GEN2tB portable measuring module, designed for high-speed measuring technology with sampling rates of up to 250 MS/s. Featuring a modular design, the

GEN2tB Data Acquisition System is suitable for use as an entry level model, but can also be used as a high-end transient recorder – or even in mixed applications. Furthermore, the device has 2 slots, making it a cost- effective choice for small channel counts. Compact in size, yet powerful in use, the new GEN2tB system is suitable for both

mobile and stationary use and can also be expanded to accommodate up to 12 voltage (or current) channels, 16 high-speed sensor channels (e.g., strain gauges or accelerometers up to 500 kS/s per channel), or up to 24 channels of fibre optic digitisers, or any mix of these.

VALVES, SEALS, BARRIERS AND MASTICS V

alves, seals, barriers and mastics are designed to keep

water (and other liquids) out but they are often very poor at keeping gases out, including water vapour, O2, CO2 and hydrocarbons. This is because as vapours they can permeate through the actual materials any barriers are made from. Every material does this and the amount varies with the gas. EVOH, cellulose and PVOH are good examples of this as they bar liquid water but allow water vapour (along with other gases) to pass through virtually unchecked. This leads to condensation on the other side. Versaperm’s VSM (Valves, Seals and Mastics) permeability meter can measure this for

almost all industrially used gas, allowing companies to customise materials, designs and manufacturing processes to minimise this problem for their products and systems. The equipment can be used for both product development and quality control.

CHELL INSTRUMENTS MAKE CONNECTION BREAK-THROUGH

W

orld-renowned gas measurement specialists Chell Instruments, have

unveiled a new aluminium pneumatic connector which will create instant time and money savings within innovative industries. This unique and innovative connector,

connects and disconnects pneumatic lines/pipes easily and hassle-free. Chell Instruments initially created this versatile connector to meet stringent aerospace environmental requirements and speed up system installation and reconfiguration. “It seemed natural to create a lightweight aluminium quick disconnector after the popularity of the stainless-steel Quick Disconnect (SQDC) version.” Comments Nick Broadley, Managing Director at Chell Instruments. “The SQDC version was designed after visiting a leading aircraft engine manufacturer and discovering that during testing process, when they wanted to dismantle an engine, all the piping (potentially 300 pipes or so) had to be cut off and replaced.” Designed for a range of applications, across industries, the Aluminium Quick Disconnects (AQDC) can be used in hash environments at working temperatures of up to 200°C.

POSITIONING WITH MAXIMUM RELIABILITY

T

he PXV 2-D absolute positioning system from

Pepperl+Fuchs sets new performance benchmarks when it comes to reliability and handling. With its large reading window, the system keeps a sufficient number of codes in view, even in relation to track switches and changes to the code tape. Precise positioning is guaranteed at all times. Six years of experience with the PCV system have helped to shape the development

of the PXV. Mounting and commissioning are easier, and plant availability is further improved. The reading window has an increased depth of focus range, allowing it to capture even more codes simultaneously and also guarantee position detection through multiple redundancy. Unlike other systems available on the market, the PXV requires only a 2-D camera, ensuring that irritation relating to track switches is excluded. To prevent this, the cameras in the two camera systems can receive the relevant differing position signals in these areas.
