Fluke 279 FC TRMS Thermal Multimeter offered at a special price for a limited time period

High-resolution

pyrometers with rugged remote sensor head

F

luke Process Instruments expands the Endurance pyrometer series by models with a remote sensing

head that tolerates ambient temperatures up to 315 °C. This design is ideal for applications with tight space constraints and for mounting near a heat source and in harsh environments. The sensing heads also offer improved immunity to electromagnetic interference. They are connected to a rugged IP65 electronics box via fiber- optic cable over a distance of up to 22 m. Various medium and high-temperature models cover a 250 °C to 3,200 °C measurement range. Monochrome and ratio pyrometer version are available with a 1 µm or 1.6 µm spectral response. The ratio infrared thermometers enable accurate measurements of partially obscured objects, in dirty or steam-filled atmospheres, and of small or moving objects that do not completely take up the measurement spot, notably wires, rods, or streams of molten glass or metal.

is reducing the recommended price of its 279 FC TRMS Thermal Multimeter from £839 to £669. Thermal imagers are invaluable to help quickly troubleshoot electrical equipment, panels and transformers but electricians and maintenance technicians often do not have access to one when they need it. The Fluke 279 FC TRMS Thermal Multimeter is the first test tool to integrate a full-featured true-RMS (TRMS) digital multimeter (DMM) with a thermal camera in one device to speed troubleshooting. It is also a member of the Fluke Connect® family of wireless test tools allowing users to transmit results wirelessly to a smartphone and save time reporting to validate work is complete. More information about this and other Fluke Specials can be found at www.fluke.co.uk/promotions. The Fluke 279 FC allows technicians to quickly and safely check for hot spots in fuses, wires, insulators, connectors, splices and switches with the imager, and then troubleshoot and analyse issues with the DMM.

SIGNATROL LAUNCHES COST EFFECTIVE BATTERY POWERED USB TEMPERATURE DATA LOGGER

D

ata logging specialists Signatrol has launched LogET-8, a low-cost battery powered USB temperature data logger, ideal for monitoring temperature of foods in transit or

environmental conditions in production and packing. With a battery life of 24 months, LogET-8 can be configured for sample rates from 10 seconds up to 24 hours and has a reusable memory of 32,000 readings. The accuracy from -20°C to +40°C is ±0.5°C. LogET-8 software, which is used to configure the data logger and to produce reports, either in Excel or PDF format is available as a free of charge download. Unlike its competitors the software is not required to start and stop the logging, so no software is required at the receiving end of a distribution network. Complete with display and low alarms, the LogET-8 is also supplied with a convenient wall mount bracket, meaning it can be neatly fixed inside a van or despatch area for was of access. An individual LogET08 costs just £39.00 and a pack of 10 £312.00 available from www.signatrol.com

Typical areas of use include outdoor applications with Ex-nA approval for zone 2/22. A 4- wire DC version is available as an electronic output stage. The proven BT65A/BT115A actuator concept from Pepperl+Fuchs is also compatible with this sensor series and consists of two actuator sizes suitable for all shaft diameters up to 90 mm and shaft heights up to 50 mm. An additional puck system with “beacon” that can be adapted quickly and flexibly to the valve was developed to significantly enhance the visibility of the valve position from a distance.

Summary

The new F31K2 completes the Pepperl+Fuchs product program of “open solutions for valve position feedback on valve actuators “with dual inductive sensors. The products in the range meet all the requirements of modern applications in process automation, from the compact F25 for small standard actuators to F31 sensors with or without a terminal compartment and flexible actuator system to the ultimate F31K2 outdoor sensor that offers maximum robustness, impermeability and an extended temperature range.

raditionally, limit switch boxes with mechanical, magnetic or inductive contacts are used to detect the position of the valve in valve actuators. However, open solutions

are also gaining in popularity on the market due to their compact design and easy installation. The F31K2 dual inductive sensor with “outdoor” functionality completes the range of Pepperl+Fuchs open solutions. This sensor series was designed for uncompromising outdoor applications. The “house-in housing” design of the sensor provides double the mechanical protection and impermeability. The sensor and control electronics are integrated in a single module enclosed in a tough, translucent housing together with the terminal compartment. The materials used for the housing are resistant to high temperatures, UV and corrosion. Large cable diameters and rigid cables do not pose a problem thanks to the large terminal compartment and pluggable terminal block. The F31K2 has been designed for the international market. The requirements of the different markets and applications are extremely diverse. Different housing materials (electrostatically conductive plastics, aluminum, stainless steel) and connection options (metric cable glands, threads measured in inches for conduit cable glands) are used as a result. The temperature range of -40 to 75°C and IP degrees of protection IP66/67/69K cover a wide variety of applications. The target group for this product includes customers from the chemical/petrochemical, oil and gas industries.
