GENERAL PURPOSE SELF-AMPLIFIED HYDROPHONE
T
he H505L is designed as a small and versatile, self- amplified hydrophone for general purpose applications
and a wide variety of underwater acoustic measurements. Built to withstand continuous underwater exposure both in salt and fresh water, the unit is rugged yet low-cost. An internal ultra low-noise amplifier reduces the output impedance thus eliminating triboelectric cable noise and connector contamination problems, and the requirement for an expensive in-line amplifier.
The hydrophone and cable entry are completely encapsulated in polyurethane. This alleviates the problem of water intrusion caused by cathodic action.
Typical applications for the H505L include underwater biological studies, ship noise studies, pump and machinery studies etc.

new product development for Hydraulic Projects Limited (Hy-Pro), a developer and supplier of hydraulic drive units for marine steering and autopilot systems. The sensors, measuring shaft torque, provide
the data that Hy-Pro needs to refine the design of the electrically powered pump assemblies used in the hydraulic steering systems that the company supplies. Developing suitable pump assemblies for
marine applications in small vessels is challenging. The motors operate economically as electrical power is usually derived from batteries with limited capacity, yet the pump systems must be able to supply high power when needed, to ensure that the steering systems operate reliably. To ensure that its products offer the best possible performance in relation to these

temperature measurement solutions at the THERMPROCESS trade fair. The latest addition to the IR pyrometer portfolio, Thermalert 4.0, enables automatic noncontact temperature monitoring in a -40…2250 °C range. Due to the outstanding ambient temperature range of -20…85 °C, more measuring points can be set up without cooling. Another IR innovation, the industrial-grade thermal imager ThermoView TV40 with an integrated visible-light camera, is also on show. The fixed-installation thermal camera enables 24/7 temperature monitoring in a -10…1200 °C range. Developed to meet today’s demanding industrial automation requirements, it supports GigE streaming of images and automatic alarms. The manufacturer’s thermal profiling systems are represented by Datapaq TP3 data loggers, featuring up to 20 thermocouple channels and outstanding 3.6 million data points memory capacity. The loggers enable temperature uniformity surveys (TUS) and in-process product temperature monitoring.
