S

outhern Manufacturing & Electronics, the UK’s leading annual industrial technology exhibition, returns to Farnborough from

5 to 7 February 2019. Gathered in the stylish, ultra-modern environment of the recently- completed 20,000m² Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre will be an outstanding range of suppliers, covering everything from component vendors to major global machinery manufacturers. Now moving into its third decade, the show’s

trademark holistic exhibitor list covers such a broad swathe of industrial activity that it holds pretty much universal appeal for the engineering community. Components, production hardware, machinery, OEM parts, advanced manufacturing – it is all at the show, and in large quantities. There is also an extensive selection of subcontract service companies specialising in everything from fabrication to electronics assembly. Needless to say, given Farnborough’s great importance at the centre of the UK’s $22bn aerospace industry, there is a high proportion of AS9100-rated subcontractors showcased in the exhibitor list. The show also features a significant number of non-UK companies, the numbers of which have swelled an impressive 26 per cent over 2018. Components such as connectors, displays,

sensors and enclosures form a major slice of the products on show and the selection is comprehensive to say the least. Connector vendors exhibiting for 2019 include ODU, Yamaichi Electronics, Lemo UK, Coax Connectors, Binder UK amongst others. India’s Terminal Technologies will exhibit, among its own product lines, a range of wire-to-wire and PCB interconnect products from JAM Japan. There is also a fine selection of interconnection specialists such as the AS9100- rated K Lacey Cables and Electronic Technicians, Selwyn Electronics, Industrial Electrical Wiring and many others. New TFT products to be exhibited by Midas

Components will include HDMI TFTs, and new transflective panels for outdoor use. There will also be new E-Paper displays, which maintain an image even when the power source is removed, complement the company’s traditional LCDs and OLEDs, which include mono and RGB OLEDs, VA technology LCDs, high resolution graphic LCDs, and alphanumeric LCDs. Craft Data will also show new HDMI-equipped TFT displays, plus “stretched” or “bar-type” TFT LCDs. The versatile letterbox format displays have high brightness LED backlights, a wide operating temperature range and wide

viewing angles. There will also be the company’s System on Module embedded devices, featuring the latest ARM Cortex-A7 microprocessor for industrial embedded applications. New exhibitor Canvys is a specialist in OEM and custom display engineering, designing and manufacturing display products from the initial steps of design through the entire product lifecycle. Applications include medical, industrial, military and aerospace. Sensors and encoders are also well represented at the show. RDP Electronics launches a CANbus
