DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE MONITORING M
onitoring differential pressure is important in many production
processes and vital in medical facilities including operating theatres. It is also essential wherever small differences in pressure can have a significant effect, for example in cleanrooms for the production of sensitive electronic components, laboratories, the HVAC sector as well as applications in research and development. Generation of a vacuum or positive
pressure results in a pressure differential. It is important to measure this differential pressure and monitor it constantly. There are two common measurement principles for this - mass flow and diaphragm sensor strain gauge. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. To give customers the highest possible
flexibility, Rotronic offers a series of high precision instruments for the measurement of differential pressure by both principles. Rotronic manufactures transmitters with analogue and digital outputs and cleanroom panels together with a range of accessories for the measurement of differential pressure.
CLEANROOM PANELS FOR DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE The Rotronic CRP5 panel meets monitoring and control requirements for cleanroom environments; with FDA 21CFR part 11 compliance and validated to GAMP5 Directives. It provides precise measurements of differential pressure using a diaphragm sensor, together with temperature and humidity. The CRP5 has been designed for
installation in cleanrooms in hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, electronics production and assembly areas, food industry, laboratories and wherever small differences in pressure are critical. The wall panel has a tough, wipe clean glass front plate which is highly
resistant to chemicals; optical buttons can be operated using protective gloves. The option of a magnetically mounted humidity and temperature probe which is removable in seconds provides for efficient and effective cleaning. Up to six measurement values can be
shown on the graphical colour display. There are visual alarm indicators for

defined values that have been breached, as well as faults and alerts. With its analogue and digital
interfaces, the panel is easy to integrate into any monitoring system; there are six relays. Configuration is easy using the four optical buttons and Rotronic HW4 software, or via Modbus RTU/TCP. Any Rotronic HygroClip2
interchangeable temperature and humidity probe may be connected for measurement at a specific point in the cleanroom. Door monitoring is via contacts. The operating ranges are wide: up
to 500Pa, -100…200°C (probe dependent) and 0…100%rh. The CRP5 panel sensors are also easy to calibrate away from the cleanroom.
PROCESS PRESSURE Also from Rotronic, the process pressure transmitter BF220 is suitable for measurement of absolute pressure in applications with fast temperature changes and in compressed air, HVAC and pneumatic systems. It measures the pressure of neutral gases and nitrogen in piping and closed containers. The pressure of the medium being measured acts on a pressure cell, which converts the pressure into an electronic signal. The new process pressure transmitter complements the Rotronic low dew point probe HC2-LDP(-EX).
