communication. The rugged, space-saving housing is designed to eliminate messy cable runs back to the control cabinet and simplify RFID traceability applications in manufacturing processes. This system can operate with a direct connection to the PLC or multiple heads can be daisy chained with only one Ethernet connection running back to the PLC. Ultimately, the system is a highly scalable solution for increasing visibility on the production line. Traditionally used for palletized assembly or work-in- process applications, all-in-one RFID read/write systems enable Industry 4.0 through flexible manufacturing, efficient production, and providing unprecedented traceability in the process, with visibility at all levels of the organization. This simplified architecture eliminates unnecessary equipment expenses leading to a quicker return on investment.

Featuring ABB’s EZLink technology, the new ATS430 turbidity and TSS sensor provides ultra-stable and accurate measurement of turbidity and total suspended solids up to 4,000NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) or 100,000 mg/l. Unlike conventional turbidity and TSS sensors, the ATS430 requires no servicing throughout its operational life, enabling it to offer the lowest cost of ownership.

The ATS430 is suitable for use across a range of industries subject to regulatory effluent discharge consents, including municipal potable and wastewater treatment plants; pulp and paper; food and beverage; oil and gas; marine and mining.
A major benefit of the ATS430 is its simplicity. The MCERTS-approved sensor comes pre-calibrated, making it ready to use as soon as it is taken out of the box. Set-up is straightforward, with ABB’s EZLink technology enabling quick connection to an AWT440 digital universal transmitter, which automatically recognises and configures the sensor. With no need for wiring or complicated configuration, EZLink eliminates the time and cost associated with installation, including the requirement for a specialised engineer to get the ATS430 up and running.
The ATS430 also incorporates a number of features that help it to offer the lowest cost of ownership of any device on the market. Its fully-sealed design means there are no o-rings, seals or gaskets to replace, making it a truly service-free device. The sensor is also highly resistant to fouling, with a choice of polished stainless steel or corrosion-resistant titanium sensor bodies.

Rittal’s new motor controllers for its RiLine Compact power distribution system offers a sophisticated solution. To help engineers, Rittal has also produced a 3D configurator that reduces the time required to generate Compact RiLine busbar systems.

Following the successful launch of the busbar system “RiLine Compact” at the beginning of the year, Rittal is now expanding the product range. Until now, the small 125-A-max busbar system consisted entirely of shock-hazard-protected boards, which form the basis of the system, along with assembly components such as connection adapters for busbar infeed and component adapters for the easy set-up of switchgear and protection devices produced by other manufacturers. Rittal will shortly be launching new motor controllers into the range. These can be fitted directly and easily onto the board in a one-step installation, to minimise the time and effort spent on wiring.
A compact solution for small spaces
Rittal offers motor controllers in three staggered current ranges: 8 A/2.4 A/8 A. These combine the functions of direct starter and reversing starter within one single device. Its slimline profile - just 22.5 mm wide - is particularly impressive and frees up around 50 percent more space compared to the standard 45 mm-wide switching device in the range, and as much as 75 percent more space compared to the 90 mm-wide reversing combinations.
Hybrid technology to impress
The three-phase motor controller is a high-performance hybrid switching device with a current monitoring function, offering a longer lifespan and low-loss operation. The principle behind it is simple: first, the electronics are switched on using the input signal, and then the mechanical contacts takeover for the duration. The motor controller also provides diagnostics, which to detect internal and external errors. The operating statuses and error messages can then be evaluated through the four different illuminated LEDs.
3D Configurator
To help engineers, Rittal has also produced a 3D configurator that reduces the time required to generate Compact RiLine busbar systems. A series of easy to follow steps produces detailed drawings, the ability to select component adaptors, and a bill of materials
