TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION ADVERTORIAL ABB appoints Betech as UK provider for NEMA motors B

Ex-certified proximity switches for extreme ambient temperatures

T

he intrinsically safe ATEX- and IECEx-certified proximity switches from EGE's IGEXHa and IGEXPa series are

suitable for use at extreme temperatures. IGEXHa inductive sensors withstand ambient temperatures of up to +140° C. IGEXPa "polar" models are suitable for down to -60° C. Both series are approved for operation in zones 0/20. They feature IP69 ingress protection and are available

in M12, M18, and M30 designs. Given a flush installation, the nominal switching distances are 2mm, 5mm, and 10mm, depending on the design. The proximity switches are connected via a 2 m FEP

cable. EGE supplies the sensors with different cable lengths on request. EGE also offers the IKMb 122 Ex series of suitable IECEx-certified signal processing units and intrinsically safe power supplies with programmable outputs. Internationally active machine builders benefit from the

IECEx certification since it facilitates the development of these proximity switches.

etech is appointed the first UK ABB authorised value provider for low

voltage motors covering the North American NEMA standard. The Yorkshire based company has over

20 years’ experience in sales, support and application know how for the NEMA product portfolio, having previously worked with Baldor motors before that company was acquired by ABB. Richard Gee, ABB’s UK Channel Manager for

low voltage motors, says: “With its history, expertise and contacts, Betech is ideally placed to become the first UK official NEMA motor partner. As a US standard, NEMA motors are particularly in demand from OEMs exporting machinery to or from the US, or to territories that specify North American standards, such as Saudi Arabia.” As a fully certified ABB authorised value

provider, Betech can access ABB’s extensive NEMA stock held in Germany and the USA, as well its own local stocks. It offers a wide range of NEMA motors to suit many applications, including severe duty, explosion proof, washdown, pump, fan, HVAC and cooling tower. Betech has also invested in systems and training in order to provide industry-leading service levels and enquiry response times. “This is the ideal time to become the ABB authorised value provider for NEMA motors as our knowledge and sales

of this product range continues to grow,” says Chris Benson, Managing Director of Betech. “Becoming an ABB authorised value provider confirms that we have the full confidence of ABB and that it recognises us as the UK specialist for its NEMA product range.”

TouchPath launches new Warehouse Management System I

u www.abb.com

nternational supply chain solutions provider TouchPath (www.touchpath.com) is launching the latest version of

its ‘TouchWMS’ warehouse management system, which includes a number of new features. The TouchWMS power-picking Control Centre, which delivers proven productivity increases of 50% is now supported by real time graphical KPI screens that display the progress and performance of individual pickers against the picks that have been assigned to them: a bar chart shows how many picks have been assigned and how many remain. Other KPI screens show overall picking and put-away progress.

A series of sequential tasks can now be assigned to each individual at the beginning of each shift (for example picking in one zone followed by put-aways in another followed by cycle counting). When a warehouse worker logs onto the system via a handheld, mobile terminal or desktop they are automatically presented with instructions.

IDEAL Networks launches world’s first handheld Industrial Ethernet network and cable tester

maintenance and troubleshooting of PROFINET Industrial Ethernet networks, plus standard Ethernet IP networks. The new, rugged NaviTEK IE copper and fibre troubleshooter has been developed to simplify the process of testing both cabling and networks in Industrial Ethernet networks that utilise the PROFINET protocol. Previously, a laptop with specialist software would be required to identify and test network nodes and configuration, which could prove cumbersome in these typically ‘desk-free’ environments. “With its compact, touchscreen design, NaviTEK IE has been designed to be a more convenient and efficient alternative to using a laptop, while catering for the physical differences between Industrial Ethernet cabling and other networks,” explains Tim Widdershoven, Marketing Director for IDEAL Networks.

Interface relays for PLC & process control

Available from OEM Automatic, widely used across

industry Comat Releco CRINT interface relays are said to be perfect perfect for PLC and process control.

Comat Releco offers four difference versions in the CRINT family:

1. High power AgSnO2 electromechanical contacts for switching up to 6A resistive load at 250Vac

2. Gold flashed AgSnO2 + 3μAu electromechanical contacts for low power applications. No external freewheeling circuit required

3. Solid state output for fast and high frequency up to 2A at 24Vdc, normally open switching

4. Triac solid state output for switching up to 1A at 240Vac, normally open, zero crossing switching for resistive or similar loads

All modules can have screw or cage clamp terminals,

control voltage ranges from 12 to 240Vac/dc and a blank terminal marker is included with all relays. Additional accessories such as coloured jumper bars and separators are also available.
