Schaffner extends EMC filter series for robotics and data centres
S
chaffner has announced the availability of the new
FN2520 and FN2660 very high performance EMC filters. These now join the initial FN2500 and FN2640 models, extending the filter series designed for robotics and datacentres. This new series of EMC filters
have been developed to meet the specific needs of these two growing markets which have technical requirements in common that can now be met by the new filter family. Many applications, including
robotics, datacentres and autonomous machines require power supplies to be mounted in 19in rack cabinets. To accommodate this and provide systems builders with seamless integration Schaffner have packaged the new EMC filter
series in a space saving 1U rack-mount design. The new EMC filters are
available with a range of connection options. These include for FN2500, FN2520 on input and output include push-on terminals, cable glands, screw terminals or spring terminals. The FN2640, FN2660
offers IEC C14 (10-15A) or IEC C20 (16-20A) input connectors for direct mains connection and with a range of output connectors. Key standard features
include input voltage 250 VAC @ DC to 60 Hz (FN2500 277 VAC / 400 VDC), output current 10 to 20 A @ 40°C, MTBF > 300,000 h and operating temperature range -40°C to +100°C (with derating >40°C).
Transport for London Banks on Ellis Patents’ cable hangers
T
ransport for London (TfL) has installed Ellis Patents’ innovative Pegasus cable hangers in its £500 million Bank Station capacity upgrade project.
Specified through the North Yorkshire manufacturer’s UK distributor, ETS Cable
Components, the hangers were chosen because their modular design meant they could be manufactured to the project’s very specific requirements. Noman Shabir, Ellis Patents’ national sales manager, said: “TfL wanted hangers
that could be supplied to meet a variety of radii because of the changing curvature of the operating tunnels running in and out of Bank Station. In addition, they needed a product that featured pre-drilled holes so that they could accept cable cleats for signal cables.” “Traditional cable hanging systems wouldn’t have coped with these requirements
on the basis they come in set sizes and configurations. Our thinking when we designed Pegasus was that no two rail projects are ever the same and as such project-by-project flexibility was vital.” As with all of its products, Pegasus was designed and developed completely in-
house by Ellis Patents. Featuring an aluminium spine that can support any number and configuration of polymer cable hangers, the modular cable hanging system is not only more adaptable than similar products, it’s also stronger and lighter; making it quick and easy to install. The Bank Station Capacity Upgrade project was aimed at relieving heavy
passenger congestion during peak hours and has seen the construction of a new southbound platform tunnel and associated length of running tunnel for the Northern line. It also incorporated the construction of connecting passageways to the existing
station tunnels and the provision of step-free access from King William Street. It is due to be complete and fully operational in the Autumn.
