UK Mainstay unveils new


boat hoist UK workboat builder Mainstay Marine has beefed up its Pembrokeshire facility in Wales with a new amphibious, remote-controlled boat hoist. Te 160tonne hoist was built by Italian manufacturer Boat Liſt. Te hoist has a height of 12m, weighs 60tonnes and


can be immersed in water up to 5m deep. Mainstay claims that the hoist will be sufficient to handle vessels with a maximum breadth of 9m and a 4.5m draught, and will enable the yard to extend its services to “GRP, wood and concrete vessels”.

Recent deliveries include: an 89.5m × 15.7m × 3.5m, 700dwt, 10knot-capacity, azimuth stern drive (ASD)-type ferry, which was handed over to Jiangsu Zhenjiang Auto Ferry Management Office; and an ASD tug boat, Yangkoutou 5, which was delivered to Nangtong Yangkou Port Co. and which features a power output of 3,240kW. environmentally friendly ro-ro ferries for Shanghai Ansheng Automotive Shipping Co. Designed by the No. 708 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the forthcoming duo is expected to cut sail times between Wuhan and Chongqing by more than 20%, the yard claims. SBI
