AN UNHEALTHY SERVICE
When we’re at our most vulnerable, the NHS is there for us and our families. It belongs to all of us. It exists to care for us and to put people before profit.
Palantir is a US software company whose tools are currently used by the Israeli military as they commit genocide against Palestinians in occupied Gaza.
Palantir also supply ICE with tools that are used to track and surveil migrants in the US.
Now, that same company is working at the heart of our NHS.
In 2023 NHS England awarded a
£330 million
contract to Palantir to provide a new data platform.
Palantir now runs the Federated Data Platform (FDP) - a system that pulls together patient records from across England to help manage waiting lists, cancer diagnoses and hospital capacity.
According to NHS England, the FDP will “help NHS staff make better decisions about patient care and service planning.”
But objections to Palantir’s role in the NHS are shared by a range of organisations, including human rights organisations, patient advocacy groups and health worker groups.
A company profiting from such grave human rights abuses should have no role in our health system or wider public sector.
That’s why we’re campaigning to take Palantir out of our NHS.
