T is structured, work-based study programme sees
students spend three days a week in a local job placement while spending the remaining part of the week at college for maths, English and employability skills. Students receive one-to-one support from a dedicated
staff member and gain vital real-world experience to build confi dence, independence and essential life skills. During the placement the college works closely with employers to ensure the placement is a success. Jason added: “We understand that the transition from
education to employment can be a big step - especially for young people with additional needs. T at’s why our Supported Internship Programme is designed to provide the structure, support and real-world experience they need to succeed. “We see the diff erence this programme has not just on
the young people themselves but also on the businesses, who benefi t from the kind of employee they may previously have glossed over. I’d encourage employers to fi nd out more about joining the programme and help us to create supportive placements that prepare students for paid employment and independent living while also benefi ting your business.”
