“Leven ‘on the road’ is mijn leven, en ik kan me niet eens meer voorstellen om een ander leven te leiden. Ik ben gelukkig als ik op tournee ben (natuurlijk houd ik er ook van om fijn thuis te zijn bij mijn honden en katten), maar ik ben echt verslaafd aan deze manier van leven. Maar zoals met veel dingen in het leven heeft het ook moeilijke punten die bewust benaderd moeten worden.”


“Een jetlag is als een hardnekkige kater; de accumulatie ervan kan gevaarlijk zijn als je je niet aanpast. Je moet je lichaam in beweging krijgen anders is slecht voor je fysieke en mentale gezondheid. Naar mijn mening is het ook nodig om gezonde relaties te onderhouden met de mensen van wie je houdt. Omdat je vaak geen tijd hebt om met je vrienden af te spreken (ik ben bijvoor- beeld slechts één keer in mijn leven naar een bruiloft geweest), is het moeilijk om plannen te maken met mensen. Terwijl de rest van de wereld aan het werk is, ben jij thuis, en wanneer zij tijd hebben om af te spreken, ben jij aan het werk… Ook al ziet reizen er misschien glamoreus uit op Social Media, meestal is het vliegveld, hotel, auto... Ik dwing mezelf daarom ook om tijd te nemen om plaatsen te bezoeken en overal waar ik ben toeristje te spelen.


Daarnaast kan de druk van Social Media in combina- tie met al het reizen en de tijd die je alleen doorbrengt gevoelens van depressie opwekken. Om bewust te blijven van de “realiteit” in een constant bewegende en veranderende levensstijl is een uitdaging. Maar het wel echt belangrijk om met beide benen stevig op de grond te blijven staan.”


HET AANPASSEN VAN ENERGIE


Hajji’s reis – van kleine clubs tot wereldwijde festivals – is een getuigenis van haar veelzijdigheid. Door haar sets aan te passen aan de energie van diverse omgevingen, vangt ze de essentie van elk moment. Of het nu in een intieme club is of op een enorm festival, haar doel blijft het zelfde: de menigte keihard laten dansen maar ook momenten voor rust en euforie creëren.


“Ik begon met spelen in kleine clubs in mijn stad en vervolgens in alle dichtstbijzijnde locaties. Enkele jaren later werd ik ook geboekt in andere steden, en daarna in de dichtstbijzijnde landen zoals Portugal. Ook kwamen in die tijd de eerste festivals, dus ik groeide langzaam en kon experimenteren met een enorme verscheiden- heid aan feesten en situaties tijdens mijn carrière, niet alleen op drukke plaatsen tijdens piekuren.


Dus mijn sets veranderen altijd met de energie van de plek. Natuurlijk heeft een groot publiek op openlu- chtfestivals een andere energie dan clubs waar je de mensen heel dichtbij je hebt. Maar het gaat mij vooral om de energie, en mijn sets worden gedreven door dit gevoel. Zoals ik al zei, het is mijn doel om de mensen keihard te laten dansen, maar ze ook wat tijd te geven om te ademen en te glimlachen, gewoon om de energie te herstellen en daarna weer hard te kunnen beuken.”


VORMGEVEN VAN ARTISTIEKE IDENTITEIT


Spanje en Nederland, integraal voor Hajji’s artistieke identiteit, weerspiegelen onderscheidende energieën. In Spanje, waar haar carrière ontkiemde, is de plek van intense menigten die haar beats ontvangen met hoge energie. Ondertussen biedt Nederland, haar tweede thuis, een toevluchtsoord voor Techno-liefhebbers, een samensmelting van wereldwijd talent en indrukwe- kkende sferen.


“In Spanje staat het publiek bekend om hun intense energie. Ik denk dat we echt feestgangers zijn, en ik weet zeker dat elke DJ hier bewust van is. Aan de an- dere kant is Nederland de plek waar een raver de beste

FROM SMALL CLUBS TO FESTIVALS: ADAPTING ENERGY


Hajji’s journey—from small clubs to global festivals—is a testament to her versatility. Adapting her set to the energy of diverse settings, she encapsulates the essence of each moment. Whether in an intimate club or a massive festival, her goal remains consistent: keep the crowd dancing hard, interweaving moments of res- pite for smiles and recovery.


“I started playing in small clubs in my city and then in the nearest locations. Some years later, I began playing in other cities, and the years after that in some of the nearest countries like Portugal. Also, the first festivals came at that time, so I grew slowly and was able to experiment


situations during my career, not only on main stages during peak times.


So my sets are constantly changing with the energy of the venue. Of course, big crowds at open-air festivals have a different energy than clubs where you have the people super near to you, but the point for me is the energy, and my sets are driven by this feeling. As I said, my idea is to keep the people dancing hard but also to give them some time to breathe and smile, just to reco- ver the energy to dance hard again.”


SPAIN AND HOLLAND AS KEY PLACES: SHAPING ARTISTIC IDENTITY


Spain and Holland, integral to Hajji’s artistic identi- ty, contribute distinctive energies. In Spain, where her career ignited, the intense crowd mirrors her high-ener- gy beats. Meanwhile, Holland, her second home, offers a haven for Techno enthusiasts—a convergence of global talent and awe-inspiring atmospheres.


“In Spain, the crowd is known for their high, intense energy. I think we are party people, and I’m sure every DJ knows this, so it’s usually easy to shine when you do things properly. On the other hand, The Netherlands is the place where a raver can find the best productions and parties that have been around for many years. It’s also a meeting place where Techno people from all over the globe go to rave, so the atmosphere there is quite impressive. I really love to play in both countries, and I feel so lucky to often get booked. I just feel at home in both places. The Netherlands was one of the first countries I visited outside of Spain, and for me, it’s very special.”


SOUTH AMERICA: THE CONTAGIOUS BEAT


Having graced South American stages, Hajji attests to the region’s contagious party energy. Particularly in Colombia and Argentina, the warmth and enthusiasm of the crowd leave an indelible mark. The electronic music scene in South America, vibrant and inviting, becomes a canvas for Hajji’s exciting creations.
