“It’s actually a track that I started before I made ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’. I was listening to a lot of Trance from the early


2000’s back then and found


Nico Parisi and Erik Hubo’s ‘Metro’. The melody just stayed in my head forever and I knew I had to try something new with it. After an hour of work I immediately knew it worked, I finished a very basic version but never sent it to anyone. When Kevin de Vries started playing ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ I decided to send him a couple more tracks that I felt would fit his set and sound. He was so in love with ‘Metro’ that we ended up finishing it together. The universe helped us a little bit when Tale Of Us played it in Miami during that meteor shower. The rest is history I guess.”


Among his many achievements, ‘Drugs From Amsterdam’ stands out, amassing over 100 million plays on Spotify. Mau P’s inspiration for the track struck him during an ordinary


task—grocery


shopping in Amsterdam. “I don’t know where it came from, but I ran to the studio and immediately made a demo vocal,” he reflects.


“The story behind it sadly is not as exciting as the title. I thought of the vocals and melody while grocery shopping. When I came home I immediately tried to find all the right sounds. I sent a voice memo of the idea to a couple of friends and everyone said it was crazy. I got MC Stretch to redo my vocals and he absolutely killed it. I still feel so grateful for all the success that came after. I’ve been waiting
