COVER STORY

“SOR’S UNIQUE FUSION OF MUSIC AND EMOTION”

Known for his deep and rhythmic Afro-House sound, SOR has embraced a new chapter in his career with the launch of his new brand. A journey that has seen him evolve from playing iconic clubs like Pacha to working alongside legends like Black Coffee and Blondish.

SOR is now stepping into a space that feels more per- sonal and authentic. His new identity marks not just a rebranding but a reflection of his growth both as an artist and a human being. With a unique fusion of sound and visuals, SOR is poised to redefine the expe- rience for his audiences, taking them on an immersive journey that extends far beyond the music.

In this interview, SOR shares his thoughts on this trans- formation, how Afro-House resonates deeply within him, and the evolution of his musical journey. He opens up about the connection he feels to tribal rhythms, the powerful emotions that drive his creative process, and his upcoming releases. As an artist constantly pushing boundaries, SOR reflects on his experiences working with industry greats and the lessons he’s learned from their artistry. He is not only expanding the genre of Afro-House but also forging new collaborations that bring fresh, unexpected elements into the mix.

From the vulnerability of creating new music to the excitement of engaging with his fans in a new way, SOR speaks openly about the challenges and rewards of his journey. His upcoming releases on the Sounds of Rituals label promise to channel personal stories of transformation, growth, and authenticity, giving fans a glimpse into the heart and soul of the artist behind the decks. This interview sheds light on SOR’s artistic vision and his passionate commitment to music as a tool for connection and storytelling.

A NEW IDENTITY

For SOR, transitioning into this new identity is not just about a fresh brand; it’s a deeper reflection of who he is at this stage in his career and life.

“For me, transitioning to SOR is like finding a clearer way to express myself. It’s not just a new brand, but a deeper reflection of who I am right now—musically and personally. I want people to feel a sense of belonging and ritual through my music, like we’re all sharing in so- mething timeless and communal. It’s a fresh start but also a return to something more authentic.”

This evolution signifies a deeper understanding of his artistic identity and a desire to create a communal ex- perience through his music.

With this new chapter comes the excitement of seeing how audiences will respond to the transformation.

“Honestly, it’s exciting and I’m a bit nervous. I think anytime you open up and show a new side of yourself, there’s this feeling of, ‘Will they get it? Will they con- nect?’ But my fans have been on this journey with me, and I trust that they’ll see this change as an evolution, not a departure. And for new listeners, I’m hoping they’ll be drawn in by the fusion of sound and visuals and feel like they’re experiencing something completely diffe- rent.”

SOR remains confident in the connection he has with his fans, trusting that they will understand this trans- formation as a natural progression of his artistic jour- ney.

His performances, known for their immersive quality, will now take on an even greater depth with the visual elements of SOR integrated into his live sets.

“Live sets are my chance to invite everyone into my world, and with SOR, I want to take that even further. We’re working on creating environments that make you feel like you’re stepping into a different realm—using lighting, visuals, and stage design that reflect the story of the music. I want people to not just hear the beats but to see and feel the journey.”

SOR aims to create an experience that engages all the senses, bringing his audience deeper into his world.

THE POWER OF AFRO-HOUSE

Afro-House has always been a significant element in SOR’s music, grounding him in his roots and connec- ting with something universal.

“Afro-House feels like it speaks to something deeper in me. The rhythms, the percussion—they connect with my own roots and culture, and I think they also touch on something universal that makes you want to move and feel. When I’m creating music, it’s those elements that ground me and remind me that music is about connec- tion, movement, and storytelling.”

These elements are not just sounds but serve as a re- minder of the fundamental connection that music creates between people.

In his creative process, SOR focuses on the emotional connection first before diving into the technical as- pects.
