In just five years, Musikone has gone from a local project to the backbone of Puerto Rico’s electronic music scene. More than a promoter, Musikone is a multifaceted cultural engine that combines music, event production, e-tickets, live entertainment, and e-commerce through its platform,
musikone.net. The mission is simple but ambitious: connect Puerto Rico’s scene with the global circuit while strengthening its own community at home.
That mission has already reshaped San Juan’s nightlife. Musikone has booked a dizzying roster of international heavyweights across house, techno, and beyond: Hugel, Black Coffee, Dennis Cruz, Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus, Cloonee, The Martinez Brothers, Blond: ish, Mochakk, John Summit, Diplo, Traumer, Matroda, Lee Foss, CamelPhat, Dubfire, Claptone, Nic Fanciulli, Green Velvet, DJ Tennis, Paco Osuna, Loco Dice, Raresh, Praslea, Priku, Sonja Moonear, Shonky, San Pacho, Justin Martin, and Shiba San. For an island that has long lived in the shadow of bigger Latin American hubs, this is nothing short of a paradigm shift.
THE VISION OF FRANK LARA
Behind Musikone stands Frank Lara, whose fingerprints can be traced back nearly two decades in Puerto Rico’s club culture. After the pandemic, Lara launched Musikone as a continuation of his earlier legacy with NIGHTology. This organization deliberately avoided the big-room EDM wave to spotlight underground house and techno. NI- GHTology’s bookings read like a who’s who of the scene’s innovators: Tale Of Us, Jamie Jones, Dixon, Guy Gerber, Lee Burridge, tINI, Bedouin, Roman Flü- gel, Mind Against, Ellen Allien, Benoit & Sergio, Butch, Paul Ritch, DJ Sneak, Wolf + Lamb, Bob Moses, Francesca Lombardo, Satori, Visionquest, Magda- lena, YokoO, Molly, James Zabiela, Art Department, Victor Calderone, Magda, Heidi, and DJ W!LD.
