What qualifications do I need? You need to hold a formal NVQ QCF assessor qualification. I am qualified to level 5 in health and social care as well as holding Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learriing Sector (PTLLS).


Any other requirements? The role of an assessor requires good personal and communication skills to ensure delegates feel comfortable,' relaxed and ultimately get the most from their courses. Organisation skills are important, while there’s also a degree of flexibility required and the ability to travel.


How long does it take to qualify? Plenty of experience is required to '


qualify,.as you need to gain your own qualiflcations in your specialised sector before you can complete the assessors’


course - in total this can take up to 12 months to complete.


What sort of starting salary and package can you expect? This can depend on experience but the . average annual salary range is £18,000 to £22,000 for full-time assessors.


What sort of personal skills make someone best suited to an assessor? Being an assessor would be the ideal career for someone with good communication skills and a passion for encouraging people to develop their career prospects.


What sort of career prospects and structure is there? There are a number of opportunities for career development within this profession. You can start your


career as an assessor going into the leaners’ workplaces, and progress into developing and delivering specific training to larger groups.


What kind of job satisfaction can you expect from a career? 1 get a real sense of pride from knowing 1 have helped an individual or a group- of people with their professional development.
