'Medicines optimisation' means offering the potential to improve the safe use of medicines in all care settings, harnessing the expertise of professional and patient working together.

What are our priorities? ... .......... . * M j

• To improve the health of patients in the CCG through the use of medicines, involving patients in decisions taken regarding their medicines and providing patients with better access to support for medicines taking.

• The CCG will promote the use of new medicines approved by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for prescribing in the NHS and discourage the use of medicines not endorsed by NICE.
