Lent This year, the pro moters of Christian

' Aid have suggested a new approach, to Make Lent Count. Leaflets have appeared in St Wilfrid’s Church, Ribchester, inviting everyone to “Count Our Blessings” dur ing Lent. It’s a time to reflect, to pray and to be thankful for all that we have received. Christian Aid, in line with its mission, wants all to go on a journey that they have de vised t6 transform the way we see the world, by counting our blessings. The leaflet is structured, throughout the five weeks of Lent, to pose simple ques tions that will give each of us pause for thought, and al low us to appreciate

. how blessed we are - whatever our cir cumstances - for so much that we take for granted. Each question starts with a simple statement. The question sug gests that we com pare our life-style with the statement, and then to give a small sum of money to reflect the bless ing that we enjoy. Christian Aid’s hope is that we will continue to work our way through this Lent course, week by week, so that by the time we reach Easter Sun day on April 8th, we have quantified how much we have to be thankful for and will donate that sum - or however much you choose, to Christian Aid’s world-wide aim to end poverty.
