Pupils find out more about war...

JUNIOR pupils at Thomeyholme RC Primary School at Dunsop Bridge journeyed back in time this month when they emerienced a day in the Second World War. Dressed as evacuees, the children tasted war

time recipes for vegetable pie and “eggless” fruit cake. They learned songs including “The white cliffs of Dover” and “Run rabbit run” . There was the drama of responding to an air-raid siren, and they also got to “drive” an authentic vintage army jeep! In adciition, they made puppets out of socks

for “make-do and mend” , and then used more modern technology to research the period and prepare projects on the topic.

tion and rambunctiousness made for an enjoyable evening - though probably no- one had as much fun as the actor, playing the Cowardly Lion.

On Wednesday, the school nurses are com ing into school to talk to Class Six about keeping healthy etc.

And on Friday, the Rev Tim Thorpe is com ing into school to take the school as sembly.

Staff would also like to remind parents about parking outside school both in the mornings and afternoons. A few local residents have brought to our attention that some parents are parking across driveways and are therefore unable to get otit from their own homes.
