www.cntheroeadvertiser.co.uk www.lancashirejobstoday.co.uk today v e Lynda Brislin, chief executive of North West Air Ambulance i - i

What qualifications do you need? I come from a generation where university was never an option, but i have aiways held roles which involved business management, figures, banking and credit control - all of which serve me well in my position. Before joining the North West Air Ambulance, I managed a family business for over 20 years and this gave me the skiiis and expertise 1 needed to secure the role of chief executive within the chari^. We sold our family business the year the air. ambulance service was launched - looking back, it was great b'ming, and the rest; as they say, is history.

Any other requirements for example health and fitness or age? Every day is different in my role. It involves a lot of travelling around meeting our crew. Volunteers, fundraisers and staff at the various

emergency services we work in partnership with. It aiways keep's me busy and on my toes - so I would say good health is a must!

What sort of personal skills make someone best suited to this career?

Jo work in a charity you must be a ‘people person’ - and be a very good listener. , You must possess great communications skiiis and have the patience to give each and every person you deal with the rime they wish to spend w'rth you.

What sort of career prospects and structure Is there? The charity has a dedicated senior team who support me in my role and help the charity pursue 'rts vision of delivering the highest standard of healthcare to patients in the region who need our services.

There is no greater career prospect than seeing Wiis achieved. .

What kind of job satisfaction can you expect from a career? Working w'rth the North West Air Ambulance, in particular, means no end to job sab'sfection. Our charity has the ability to see the outcome of the work we rfo on such a grand scale - which is fentasb'c. To actually meet people who would not have survived their injuries without the North West Air Ambulance is the most rewarding' part of my role, and working with such a dedicated, life-saving team has to come a close second.

In 50 words.sell your profession. If you want to work in an environment which sees your organisation help save lives on a daily basis, working for the

North West Air Ambulance may be for you.
