Petrolman report leads to search by


helicopter REPORTS of a man with a petrol can in fields at the rear of Clitheroe Royal Grammar School’s Chat- burn Road site brought the police helicopter to the Ribble Valley on Monday afternoon. Officers were alerted


to the incident near the school buildings at around 3-15 p.m. They were told that the male, reported to be wearing no top, looked “delirious” while running round the fields carrying a petrol c'an. As a precaution pupils


were escorted away from the scene and police offic­ ers maintained a presence while-the children got onto the school buses to take them home. Despite a thorough


search of the area the man was not found and inquir­ ies are continuing.
