(S131008/2). A lot of : praise for allotments! Show care
during crisis THE Bishop of Blackburn, i the Rt Rev. Nicholas Reade,! has called on Church of Eng land members in Lancashire to increase “prayer and care” for victims of the economic | crisis. “I hope the whole Diocese I
will continue to remember them in their prayers,” the Bishop told Anglican leaders | representing 244 parishes, i meeting a t the Diocesan | Synod in Blackpool. “The credit crunch and the I
general financial crisis has not only shocked us all but in some measure has affected us all,” th e Bishop said. The best hope was for a brief | recession., Unemployment, the repos-1
session of homes, threats to sa-vings and severe reductions to income were among crises facing many people. Charities caring for the poor, at home and overseas, faced having their activities hampered by | reduced funds. “We all have the opportu-1
n ity to show care, and to | show it to those being most | affected,” the Bishop added.
