A GANG of b u rg la rs smashed its way into a village s to re in Read and emptied th e cash machine on S und ay evening. In the well-orchestrated
burglary, up to four thieves are believed to have visit ed the Nisa store in Whal ley Road during the day to place tape over alarm sen sors in a bid to disable them. They then returned at
night to steal cash. On Monday the shop
was cordoned off so that crime scene investigators could gather evidence while officers from Clitheroe police examined the shop’s CCTV footage. Sgt Ian Kirk said that
officers believe there were four offenders, two of whom smashed the glass in the front door and then placed a metal trolley in front to cover up the hole. The other two offenders
are thought to have entered the shop, broken into the free-standing cash machine and taken a sig nificant amount of cash. Police have yet to find out exactly how much money the gang managed to get away with; The burglary took place
between 10-30 p.m; and 11-25 p.m. on Sunday and police believe that, with the shop being on the main road, there could be scores of witnesses. , Sgt Kirk, of, Clitheroe
