by Faiza Af zaal

A SPRUCED up woodland area in Mellor has been unveiled enabling less mobile people to make the most of their new com munity facility for the first time. Civic dignitaries, special guests

and youngsters from three village schools gathered for the unveiling ceremony of Mellor’s new easy- access path off Saccary Lane. Pupils from Mellor, Salesbury and

lay Hodge is delighted that every one is now able to enjoy the area. He said: “This new facility is the

result of funding support provided from the Forestry Commission, Elwood and Lancashire County Council. “Having run a dairy farm on the

slopes of Mellor for many years, obtaining grants to take out hedges and increase milk production, I wanted to put something back and

A COMBINED French and Scottish theme ensured a unique event for the wed ding of Mr Duncan Minto and Mademoi selle Elisabeth Nirascou, in Provence. The bridegroom, a financial director for

Renault, is the son of Mr Brian and Mrs Diane Minto, of Station Road, Whalley, and family and friends travelled with them to witness the wedding in France. The bride a marketing manager for Kim

berley Clark, in Paris, is the youngest daughter of Monsieur and Madame Niras cou, of St Jeannet, Provence. The ceremony was performed by the

bride’s father, who is a dignitary of the vil lage of St Jeannet and the marriage was blessed in St Jeannet Church by Father Porcier. Many of the villagers attended a Wine

of Honour to toast the couple’s future, overlooking the panoramic views from out side the church. The bride wore an ivory, off the shoulder,

silk gown with a full skirt and train. Her bouquet reflected the French and Scottish theme, blending white roses with lavender and Scottish thistles. • She was attended by Cecelia Sharp and

Christine Louis who were witnesses and seven young bridesmaids who along with the two pageboys wore white with the bridegroom’s clan tartan as decoration. Best men were Mr Matthew Bulley and Mr Arnaud Martin and the bridegroom

wore the kilt, as did some of his family and friends. Members of Clitheroe and District Cale

donian Society danced at the reception and the bagpipes were played by Mr David Moore, at the exotic location of Domain Mont Leuze, Villefranche-sur-Mer. Following a honeymoon in Tuscany, the couple will return to live in Paris.

By what right do I mount the pulpit to seek to declare and expound Jesus’ words of life? The answer is clean only through the grace of God, can I, or anyone else, ever do such things. hectares and was planted out during the winter of 2003/04 with nearly 6,000 tree seedlings of various broadleaf species like oak, ash, rowen, silver birch, hazel and is sur rounded by established woodland and meadows. During the grand opening, an oak

tree was planted by the youngsters to commemorate the event. After walking along the new path, every one was rewarded with an ice cream from Mrs Dowson, from the adjoin ing Hawkshaw Farm, where the award-winning ice-cream is made.
