THERE were plenty of cuddles when chil dren who attend St Paul’s Play Group in Low Moor, took part in a Teddy bears’ picnic. A total of 26 toddlers, accompanied by

their parents and their special cuddly friends, enjoyed the eventful morning, which included plenty of music and lots of tasty food. Our picture, above, shows staff who run

the playgroup, with mums and toddlers enjoying the fun-filled morning. (B090704/3a)

BUDDING thespians from Clitheroe’s St Michael and St John’s RC School were cer tainly on time to perform their latest pro duction - “The Time Machine”. ,V Youngsters from Years 3,4,5 and 6 took centre stage to entertain and delight packed audiences on two successful nights

raising a total of £504. Organisers were over the moon with the

response to the play, which was a sell-out. The cash amount raised will be split

between school funds and to help kick-start the launch of a primary school in Zimbab

we. Teacher Mrs Kate Monaghan said: “All

the children had a great time rehearsing and performing and everyone is pleased to donate half the money raised towards a worthwhile cause. “In addition, the school has also donat

ed £400 worth of books to help provide vital education to the children of Zimbab

we.” Our picture shows Bethany Ellison,

Rachel Lebon, Richard Bell, Mary Peel and Kyle Cowgill bang on time to shine on

stage. (G050704/1) a j i f p a f M y H E H F s s s ■ 0"*S BLX NafK

MP goes on the run.. .

RUNNING for Parliament took on a completely new meaning as Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans donned his shorts for Sport Relief. : Mr Evans joined 150 other MPs and peers in the charity's "Go the Extra Mile to Support Sport Relief" ini tiative. The event was to celebrate Sir Roger Bannis te r in 1954 becoming the first man to run a mile in under four minutes. The Valley's MP did not quite manage to match this feat, but broke the eight-minute barrier in a time of seven minutes 51 seconds. Speak ing after the event, Mr Evans said the run was one of the most worthwhile things he had ever done.

Village plays host to the sound of music!

SABDEN was alive with the sound of music as local pupils played at their annu

al music festival. The all-day event saw children from

Sabden Primary School in Whalley Road, Sabden, playing brass and wind instru ments, including flute, violin, piano and

clarinet. Pupils also performed streetdance and

cheerleading numbers and sang solo or in

groups. There were more than 100 performances

from the children, who all received certifi cates for taking part, and parents were able to drop in during the day’s activities. Our picture shows young musicians,

from the left, Ashlin Orrell, Naomi Cull, Laura Proctor, Rhiannon and Joe Wick ham, Mr David Wilkinson, James Galling, Charlotte Bell (adjudicator), Luke Tidmarsh, Charlotte Wyatt, Emily Holden and Samantha Boot. (G070704/4)
