THE weather was perfect for the Clitheroe Ramblers' Association walk round Ribchester, Knowle Green and Dutton, with excellent visibility, sun-. shine and even a cooling breeze. The route took the party of 17 north

Cricket club ensures future is secured Exciting programme planned
MEMBERS of Clitheroe Cricket Club are investing successfully in their
future. When they organised an under-lls'
cricket festival, 42 youngsters turned
up to play. Club chairman Mr Farouk Hussain
and his committee have been targeting young people as a way of ensuring Clitheroe Cricket Club has a buoyant
future. The club has eight qualified coach es who supervise successful sessions at
the Chatburn Road ground each Thursday night. At the same time, the club also
organised a barbecue to satisfy the appetites of the young cricketers. "It was a very successful event," said Mr Keith Driver, one of those
involved. : '-'The young players are the future of
the club." Players and coaches are pictured relaxing after their exertions. (J120702/3)
MEMBERS of the Rib ble Valley branch of the Blackburn and District Blind Society met for their July meeting. Instead of speakers,
they enjoyed a social evening, and discussed the club itinerary for the coming months. It includes an August

ROTHERS Clive and Jonathan Seedall have recently carried out major refurbishment at the Forest Inn in Fence. A six-figure sum was spent when the pub closed recently
for a period of three weeks to transform the traditional country inn into a modem brasserie with a Mediterraneanffeel. The country inn now features large armchairs in bright,
Mediterranean colours, a light oak floor and new high-tech lighting and bar, featuring a fresh coffee grinder and Italian Cappuccino machine.
■ , The refurbishment is proving extremely popular particularly
with the business community bringing many customers to dine from overseas. Most lunchtimes accents from the United States, Germany and Italy etc can be heard in the Forest Inn.'
The refurbishment has created a light, airy atmosphere
particularly in the conservatory dining room which is now furnished with light beech tables and walls painted with primrose yellow and white. The conservatory dining room is proving extremely popular for weddings up to 46 people and christening buffets up to 80 people, with the beer garden proving popular
