AL PACINO plays Will Dormer, a veteran LAPD detective who travels to Alaska with his younger part ner Hap (Martin Donovan) to investigate the murder of a 17-year-old girl. In the season of the midnight sun, no matter how

hard he tries, the region's perpetual daylight means he cannot sleep. Through his increasing state of weariness, cracks begin to appear, and when a stakeout goes dras tically wrong, Dormer-and Walter.Finch (Robin Williams) the man he believes to be guilty of the mur der, begin a dangerous game of,cat and mouse with

their lives and careers. With "Insomnia", director Christopher Nolan has

managed to achieve a psychological thriller that builds in suspense, as .Dormer's.state of mind and ability to he objective deteriorate and his guilt grows.

with a vacant date on October 16th. The performance of Scottish songwntcr and guitarist

John Martyn has been cancelled. The theatre announced this week that Martyn was "devastated" at having to cancel his tour because he was

involved in the car accident. The incident came on top of the postponement of his

Rat Pack Confidential; Octagon Theatre, Bolton; from Thursday until Saturday, October19th

IN the 1960s, the Rat Pack’s per sonalities were the most famous entertainers on the planet and their’world was full of private je ts, drink, drugs, film stars, politicians, hookers, narcotics and

the Mob. Ladies wanted to date them,

and men wanted to be them.- They were, and have consistently remained, the ultimate icons of cool. In 1999, Shawn Levy’s best seller Rat Pack Confidential blew the whistle on the real world of some of the 20th Century’s best loved heroes. Now, in Paul Sirett’s powerful,

adaptation of that best-selling hook, their amazing story is brought to life on stage. Featuring a live band and a

wealth of songs that defined an era, “Rat Pack Confidential” is a
