value of team rewards in supporting and enhanc ing performance as part of the Government's pol icy of developing the health service. Announcing the

scheme, Health Minister Mr John Hutton said: "It is time to reward the bes t in the NHS. I t is characterised by huge var ia tions in perfor

monolithic culture which suppresses the sense of enterprise in the NHS." Targets and measures

to achieve them are being put in place - some will seek to take the team's usual perfor mance forward. General areas such as

team is the smallest tak ing part in the trial. The others include 3,700 peo ple in Norfolk and Nor wich acute trust and 80 on pathology and radiol ogy work in South

THE children of Oakhill College in Whalley, from Nursery through to Year 11, are sending their very own messages this Christ mas to children in desper ate situations around the

world. Their messages of love,

caring and hope are wrapped up in shoe-boxes - some 50 of them gift-filled with toys of all kinds, educational items including books, pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons etc., together with toiletries and other items such as sweets,

batteries and clothing. Mrs S. Taylor, senior teacher

encourage attendance was one of the features that helped Calderstones win a national prize. Its overall policy was assessed by Government, trade union and profes sional body experts. The voucher scheme

at Oakhill, co-ordinated the school’s response to Operation Christmas Child, which is a Christian Aid programme and I the largest children’s gift aid

project in the world. Operation Christmas Child

They do not benefit as much from health at work inititiatives at the Whalley site, such as health and leisure facili ties, complementary therapies, smoking cessa tion programmes, stress management and free counselling.
