Fund-raisers! <£500 boost for air ambulance
PARAMEDICS who provide a vital lifeline to the Ribble Valley thanks to their work with the North West Air Ambulance have been given a cash boost. On Tuesday night, the Moor
, . ,
cock Inn, Waddmgton, was the scene of a cheque presentation
from members of the local Skal , the local Skal
organisation. The £500 was raised at the presi
dent's night in November, where draws, tombolas and various games helped make money, not only for club funds, but also to benefit a charity chosen by the president. Last year, the Macmillan nurses -received the cheque, but this year
current president Mr Peter
Edmondson decided to donate cash to the air ambulance.
The Skal club of Pendle is made
up of individuals connected with the travel and tourism industry from the Ribble Valley, Burnley and Pendle areas. The original club was formed in Scandinavia in 1933 by travel agents who wanted a
social club of their own. It takes its name from the Swedish word mean ing cheers dr good health and oper ates with similar aims to the Rotary movement. Skal clubs can be found as far afield as Kenya, | Mauritius, America and England. Our photograph shows officials |
handing over the money. (090101/3/7) .
