Land-Rover Club is looking

for venues to hold its events RIBBLE VALLEY landowners have a chance to earn a bit of extra money through the Red Rose Land-Rover

Club. The club is constantly on the lookout

for venues on which to hold its events. Areas of approximately 10 acres of

rough or wooded land are needed. Club secretary Mr John Sturgess

explained that for many off-road sports, land is a very precious and decreasing

commodity. "This is an ideal opportunity for

landowners to rent out, for a weekend, those pieces of land that arc not much use for anything but grazing a few sheep," said Mr

Sturgess. Red Rose is a member of the Association

of Rover Clubs, which has many thousands

of members in the UK and abroad and is run to strict guidelines with full insurance

cover.Around 17 events throughout the year are held, four or five of which raise funds for

charity. For further details contact Mr Sturgess

Assurances sought for cash commitment to crime fight

ASSURANCES have been sought that all parties involved in the Rib ble Valley's Crime and Disorder Partnership would be willing to con tribute to it financially. A request for a budget of £5,000 to

Jones (Clitheroe) said, that although he could see the need for the money, he wanted assurances that others involved in the partnership would be equally will ing to get involved financially. A report to committee said that a speci-

ficed budget would make money available to cover various costs, such as obtaining a licence for Clitheroe town centre’s mobile radio scheme, purchasing one or two mobile radios as part of the scheme, and to finance the printing of the Ribble Valley Crime and Disorder Audit; Strategy and
