The effort and never-say-die attitude of all the players have made manager John Smith a very proud man. The Under 9s started the season bril liantly, winning their first three games and remaining unbeaten for six. Of their 11 games so far they have
won six, drawn two and lost just three. They have scored 19 goals and conceded 12. There have been some great perfor

Other star performers for the side are
Jon Brooks, Zach Foley, Andrew Hargreaves, Dominic Hampson and Sam Dean. An almost entirely new squad for the Under 10s saw many of the boys playing competitive football for the
first time. A squad of only 10 — they are still
on the lookout for more players — saw them plump for the seven-aside league where Richard Grafton tops the goalscoring table with Michael
Golly not far behind. James Wynne has bagged himself six
man-of-the-match awards, and there have also been outstanding perfor mances from Mathew Rishton, Thomas Hinchcliffe and Scott Stan- worth. The boys finished the first half of the
season on a high with two wins and one draw in their last three games
before Christmas. After finishing bottom last time
around and winning the Fair Play award the Under 11s surprised a few
sides early in the season. The opening 3-3 draw against Clay

exciting performances, b u t the main difference has been the confi dent team approach which is a c redi t to the efforts of Terry Fothergill, the manager, and his
assistant Pete Poplett. The boys have learned to be gracious in defeat and victoiy and they take great pride in playing for Whalley Juniors. The Under 12s have had a mediocre season in terms of results, losing
