Putter on Sunday. GEORGE EMBLEY rep o r ts

For although golfers travelled from all over the country to test their

talents against a course used as an Open Championship qualifying j venue on several occasions, it was Kate Egford and Kim Rostron

under-par aggregate of 146, Clitheroe’s Kim finished one shot adrift in second place with 75 and 72. and Fiona Brown (Heswall) claimed

third place with 148. Delighted Kate said: “I t’s 18 months since I have won a national

event, so it was nice to win the Pleasington Putter. “The last time I played in the event Fiona Brown won, I played with

her again on Sunday and was pleased to reverse the roles." Tomorrow Kate will be in action in a 36-hole scratch competition I

a t Royal Birkdale and a t the end of the month she travels to the Lit- j tie Aston club in Birmingham to compete in the English Indies . Strokeplay Championship — an event in which she finished runner-1 up in 1993 and 1994. Kate is pictured with the Pleasington Putter (CAT0902
