for Sabden walking group took • place l a s t . Sunday, a beautiful sunny day. There was a very good turnout of walkers who took in 11 miles led by Mr Colin Cooke.
„ The walk took them up the Dean Valley to Stone Fold and on to Heights Top a t Higham, p a s t the Old Smithy, down Brown Hill and Blind Lane and passing Higham vicarage to cross the by-pass.
' : They then continued down Heys L an e where Mr Cooke explained the history of Fence D rif t where miners walked down 98 s teps to g e t into the mine entrance, bu t the coal was brought up a t Bank Hall. N ext stop was ’ the Bay
